NEW 12" VINYL BLANKS AND OLD 10" PHILCO SAFETY
Hey guys, just got 10 of the new 12" Dietrich is selling and they look great!!! BUT I think they need to be cutted using diamond - where can I get one?... did anyone tried them already? any tips? I tried with steelites first but the cut was tooooo noisy - then I try with a mid-worn saphire but noooo way to keep trying because is not acetate. The records look great but at least not compatible with my conventional methods using a rek-o-kut imperial 2 and my presto K-8.
Also, I have been using some 10" philco safety discs (cardboard base). The coating is not acetate, is plastic (I try burning the thread and yeah, it was plastic). I think I killed a saphire after cutting only 30 "noisy" sides with wide-groove presto... is that the average life for a new saphire from apollo or maybe the old plastic coating has something to do with it? Also, does the cardboard base interfere with the sound?
Hope to hear from you guys
cheers!
