Is this Reko-Cut a little over priced @ USD $1,950 ?

I've never had anything but a Presto 6n, but I would highly recommend that instead of spending $2000 on that Rek-O-Kut. You can get 6ns in questionable working condition on ebay for between $500-$800, or I've bought all 4 of mine in refurbished or working condition (complete and with extras) for $1200-$1500. Seems like all of the accessories (feedscrews, cutting heads, etc) are a lot easier to find, because they made so many.

i have seen prestos go for the 300USD mark also,
by no means am i willing to pay 2000USD for that system. just needed a second opinion on it.
piptk if you come across a 6n in good condition let me know am on the hunt at the moment

Ok, I may have one available in the next couple of months. I'm about to have 5, but only need 4.petermontg wrote:i have seen prestos go for the 300USD mark also,

But, if you have fixit skills, I'd watch eBay... I forgot to bid on the last one that went for a ridiculously low price. Any time I bid on something it always goes for $10 more than I bid. So, someone got lucky on that one!

same here, if ever theres a presto setup going and can convert to u.k. voltage easy i'd be interested. what i dont understand is how a controller and head could adapt to a 'bare' presto unit. in regard to a vinylrecorder or kingston sure, u get the controller with them so i can see how the head would move across the lathe, but with a presto without a controller how does that work?

The one that I will have for sale will be in good working order, and won't come anywhere near the price of that $400 one on ebay, unfortunately. I've paid over a grand each for all of my lathes.petermontg wrote:at the moment am looking for a fixer - up. bear me in mind when/if you put that presto up for sale
