Today are arrived the parts to platter driving motor....These are: a Nema23 stepper motor,a microstep driver module of 4A power and a toroidal transformer. Now I am working on the 2 channel power supply of motor controllers.... Pictures are coming...Soon...

Hello friends

I am was far for a little long time!
On summer here was some home improvements.
In my house an old window was changed to new and another was withrawn. Painting, cleaning and so on,,, Also in summer we adopted a nice "four legged girl" from a dog asylum. So this summer was crowded with events.

But I am here again!

Based on recommmendations of our friends ( Mark and Soulbear) I did switched to stepper motor from an induction one to use as a platter motor. The motor itself and the microstep driver are obtained earlier.
Now I did finished a two channel linear power supply unit. Its voltage is 35V and the maximal current is 3,5 amps.

Unluckily during the first test I did noticed a short circuit in the device. Switching on- the transformer begun to buzz and became hot. After a quick check I did saw that one of the bridge rectifiers act as a short circuit. The other is OK.... so I changed this KBPC 3510 to a new one , and voilá! All works! It was new but defective! Very rare situation, but I was unlucky....

Hi Guys!

Could somebody give me some advices?

The talking about the platter motor.

I did obtained a bipolar stepper motor of 3.1 Nm Torque. Its driver is a DM556D. The PSU -as I shown.... on photos. The software was written to Arduino. Everithing is fine but the noise of my motor is similar to a trolleybus or a tram. On previous experiments I was trying with an induction AC motor but there also was some noise problems.

Every idea is wellcome!

Hi Guys!

Today was arrived the most important part of my lathe: the main motor. In previous post I did wrote that the idea with a stepper motor became wrong. The stepper ran with the noise similar to an old trolleybus. It is new as its driver too..Its maximal RPM was only 122 wihch is less than necessary..... So I did abandoned the stepper as idea for a main motor. It will drive slowly the cutterhead advance mechanism.

Now I obtained a plain 1 phase induction motor . This is a new fan motor for an air conditioner. It has 80W power and 3000 RPM-but it runs dead silent! So finally my machine could run on 33 , 45 and 78 RPM. I did planned the fourthly -the 16 RPM- but now it is technically impossible..... Not a big thing!

Now I begin to create the main motor asembly.... I hope I can provide some photos in the future....

Have a nice day!

Hi Guys!

First of all I wish for you the Merry Christmas!

Now I did begun to construct the main motor assembly for my recording machine. Here are some pictures.

Before the pictures here is a riddle: I do not have a rpm. measuring tool- but I correctly measured the speed of my future main motor ( it turns a 3000 rpm) How I solved this problem? ( A help- I did not used a stroboscope!)

So the pictures:

Hi Guys!

Happy New Year!

So more pictures about tha main motor assembly. The structure is welded together. I do not like to weld but sometimes it is unavoidable.
The other picture is the drawed plan of the platter driving mechanism in side view. The motor, the intermediate drive and the platter.

Good evening Trolls!

Now here are more 2 photos about the progress. (My building machine got its name: ADR 2021= Analog Disc Recorder 2020-2021)
The baseplate of my machine is made of 10 mm thick aluminium. I had a 6 mm- thick steel plate but it is too heavy-so the final weight of the apparatus would be more than 60 kg) So I did replaced it with aluminium.

On first photo you can see the main bearing and its cutout in baseplate.
On second there is an assembled platter in its place.

Have a nice day!

Happy weekend for everybody!

So I am here! My record cutter machine- ADR2021 now will get its housing. It made of plywood and some small metal parts are used.(handle, edge reinforcement, hinges, leveling legs etc...)

On these pictures you can see some woodworking of the housing and also an invention wich could call "jig file"

The jig file is a small metal tool wich can droven by a jig saw instead of a saw tool. The abrasive paper is applied on it by some double sided adhesive tape.

Using this you can make the edges more straight and clear. The jigfile also makes the filing works easier and quicker
I did saw this tool on a russian youtube video.

See the pictures, and have a nice day!

Hi for everybody here! Hi Guys!

You can see the progress of the construction of the ADR 2021 machine. Now I did finished the housing.
It is made from plywoood and equipped with a cooling fan,air filter, two side handles ,hinges and the future locks for the cover.
Some pictures are here.

Good Evening Guys!

So the ADR2021's building is going on!

I did finished the protective hard cover- vich is waiting for the paintwork.
The software of the pitch mechanism is also wrote ( on Arduino Uno). The pitch value is regulated with a potentiometer. The ECU ( Arduino) also has a warning LED witch is blinking while the advance mechanism in standby. For the silent starting I equipped the ECU with a stop-button too. Releasing it-starts the stepper motor.

Today evening I installed a worklight for the machine and created three pulleys for the platter speed changing. The possible RPMs are 33,45 and 78.

So here is 2 pictures....

Have a nice day!

Good Evening Guys!

Today I did finished a new accessory tool for the ADR 2021.

This is a record label cutter. With this tool you can create precise made labels for the vinyls.

It has a woodden handle, a C-clamp (red) wich clamps the cutter knife. The bigger brown part is made from bakelite as the knife holder. The knife I did grinded out fom a dull old jigsaw blade.

Firstly print out the pattern of the label. Stab in the center pin in the printouts center mark. Insert the pin in the base's hole and turn around the cutter. Voilá! The label is ready!

In my humble opinion labels made with this method, are more correct than the cutting out with scissors because this tool makes a prefect circle.

Good night for everybody!

Hi Constantin!

The circle cutter compass is a useful tool. I didn't knew about it so I did fabricated for myself a DIY one.... Only one pro has my device: it can be resharpened. So you made a good business obtaining a ready made label cutter. And this is the "my way". Now the ADR 2021 only few steps from to be completed. These are : the stepper motor and the main amp. installing and finally to create some sort of cutterhead....
