Few Questions : New Cutting Head Project

Hey guys,

I have recently discovered the wonderful world of lathe cutting.
I wish to design full diy cutting lathe . I have a few newbie questions:

1. What material is the base spring for the torsion bar? which thickness usually is it?
2. What is the importance of the cones? which part should they be connect to (large or small diameter of the diaphragm). Which material is recommended? I assume they affect the sound.
3. Can I use arduino for transferring sound to the tweezers? what is recommended?
4.Can you recommend nice basic tweezers?
5. Can you recommend a decent stylus?
6.Will stepper motors will be ok for moving the head or they will make a lot of noise while recording?

Any other tips will be very welcome.

Thanks all ! :)

Welcome! I'd suggest doing some searching and reading on the forums first. There are a bunch of posts floating around with all kinds of useful and bewildering/exciting information.

Specifically check out the Experimenters' & Innovators' forum. There are some good posts at the top for starters.

...and good luck with your project!
