Tell us about yourself? I'm a scratch dj from the UK who's fascinated by how records actually work. I design scratch records - sample libraries on vinyl that are arranged with the turntable-musician in mind. We loop samples in various BPM's that coincide with 1.8 second loops, so we can make the record "skipless" - an idea invented by DJ Swamp. The same sounds looped for about a minute, giving you a nice chunk of the record to throw oyur needle at and if it jumps during the performance it will end up on the same sound in an adjacent groove.
I perform with a crew called the Skratchlords, we do improvised performances over energetic beats, or we just make the beats live with the turntables.
I am interested in making records more functional for musicians in this way, and I work closely with the pressing plant to get the best results possible. We try to do wild stuff too like weird lock grooves, etchings and other stuff to make the records more fun.

I've been working on the Presto for a while, slowly... recently its started working - sapphire embossing stylus from PIAPTK and fixed pitch LPI. I'm training myself up before getting involved with the Caruso stereo head I have waiting to go on this beast. I hope to be able to cut my own masters on the presto (as it has a 16" platter that would accomodate professional laquers) so i can stop pestering pro cutters with my ridiculous requests!

thanks to everyone on this forum for getting me this far!

Lady record cutter in Canada! Working out of Lacquer Channel Mastering in Toronto. Short runs up to 150. Was hoping to jump into acetates and lacquers, but Apollo.
Having an awesome time, learning a lot from everyone here.

I teach communications at a community college and bring in portable Presto equipment to demonstrate to my classes. I also do mastering for local musicians on the side (I have two Scully machines, one set up for stereo, the other mono) but for how much longer with Apollo gone, who knows. Never wanted to cut on plastic, but am leaning toward that now; can't master on plastic, but for the demos, once the lacquers are gone...
