What should the site look like?
Dear all,
Unfortunately, unless I figure out how to manually snazz up a skin for the site, it's not going to look the same when I upgrade.
Here are a few options. There are others. Understand that we can still import this masthead, or another new one. Any of these pages also give options for other "styles" as they call them. It's a drop down menu.
Please weigh in on how you'd like to see the site look!

Re: What should the site look like?
prosilver seems pretty straightforward and an easy transition from the current style. rock n roll could be ok without the silly graphics.

Any silly graphics would be replaced with our silly graphics.

Re: What should the site look like?
By the way, here's the straightforward prosilver. it's the default style for phpBB boards.

I also like this silver-colored Prosilver "special edition, which is the one i had in the prior post.

Either way, I'd put a masthead similar to the current one up top.
I was up for 19 straight hours yesterday doing a trial-and-error rehearsal for converting the forum. and worked much of the two days before it, doing much of the same-- moving to a better backup system, making sure everything is reversible. Please be patient if the transition has some glitches. I'm worried about bringing several thousand graphic files over from the past 14 years without messing them up. It's likely that there will be some resizing and embedding problems at first.

There may also be a temporary language problem, unless i can nip it in the bud--- after conversion, all accounts will initially be in British English. You may have to reset your language in your control panel.

Hi Steve,
I found Rock'n'Roll the most readable theme, but the Prosilver Special Edition option could be the less traumatic

Readability is key! if we have "rock n roll" I'll take out the dumb stuff. the rainforest one isn't really a contender
Re: What should the site look like?
rocknroll or pro silver for me
Re: What should the site look like?
The rocknroll seems to have the best readability and contrast. Also - it fills the whole page when used on widescreen!

Re: What should the site look like?
prosilver or rocknroll seem the most straightforward, in terms of readability, and based on my past experience in cobbling together boards of this nature, should be the simplest to customize. It's been a while since built one of these boards, and next month marks the much-awaited retirement of my career in web design, as I'm itching to ramp up my music and lathe-related projects (finallly!). That said, I might be able to help a bit if you get stuck. Good luck!!
