custom edison cylinder / the beatles / piggies

Anything goes! Inventors! Artists! Cutting edge solutions to old problems. But also non-commercial usage of record cutting. Cost- effective, cost-ineffective, nutso, brilliant, terribly fabulous and sometimes fabulously terrible ideas.

a very difficult song to transfer to a cylinder. the frequency range of the cylinder is quite limited, actually little better than a battery powered cassette tape recorder. to get a decent sounding recording using an acoustic reproducer is challenging. playing through a horn instead of a loud speaker requires very careful adjustment of the input volume to the recorder as well as trimming the frequencies to make the recorder as efficient as possible. this type of music does not transfer well to a cylinder, but in this case i was able to make a decent cylinder recording that is quite loud and bright. always fun to listen to "modern" music playing on an Edison cylinder phonograph.
