Noobman Budget Cutter Project

Anything goes! Inventors! Artists! Cutting edge solutions to old problems. But also non-commercial usage of record cutting. Cost- effective, cost-ineffective, nutso, brilliant, terribly fabulous and sometimes fabulously terrible ideas.

So I bought a lovely Parker linear stage on eBay for $75, an Arduino clone board ($6) and Easy Driver ($1.50) stepper motor board. To be fare, I think the linear stage was a ridiculous bargain - as far as I can make out, a new one is $1299+tax!
Junk shop kick mic stand and heavy duty roof rack part to hold the head.
The whole thing is amazingly solid as it is, but I'm planning on doubling some of the clamps and fasting the whole thing to a solid surface.

The idea being the turntable moves on the stage and the cutting head is fixed.
(Albeit finely adjustable for set-up.) I'm thinking a camera or possibly microscope adjuster to mount the head. Something that I can fine tune and lock.

So far including the head I've spent about $250. I think that's pretty good.
If I can cut a decent sounding stereo record for under $300, I think that would be pretty cool.

As always, would love your thoughts -still a long way to go obviously.

Have a lovely weekend every one!
