New Cutter (The DRC) - Destined for Kickstarter...

Anything goes! Inventors! Artists! Cutting edge solutions to old problems. But also non-commercial usage of record cutting. Cost- effective, cost-ineffective, nutso, brilliant, terribly fabulous and sometimes fabulously terrible ideas.

The stock model of the Vinyl Recorder is not feedback. Don't know why everyone assumes it is... It is dynamic. You have to wait at least a year or more after owning a VR before Souri will let you have feedback, if ever.

Good luck actually buying a Vinyl Recorder new from Souri.

Hi opcode

I think you mis understood what I'm say here, sorry my English is not that great.

I already know the vinyl recorder has its dynamic head as default

What I was saying was if the buyer pays 6-7k for this machina product does it at least have
Feedback head as default with electronic otherwise it's too expensive for a system with
Dynamic head only.

By the way your work is excellent too, especially your cutter head design I like this very much.

I learn a lot from your other post Thankyou

Dimi

I would disagree. The DRC system is supposed to come with a new direct drive platter motor and platter system. Vinyl recorder does not. That more than accounts for the difference in price. Even with a non-feedback head.

Hi Dave richer

I check the machina site not much info on the updates, they are release a version 3 machina.

Link

http://machina.pro/pages/production-release-model-version-3

As far as cutterhead and ampli updates I can't see anything.

In my opinion If I invest 6 to 7k I will be upset with updates as they are not updated frequently.

The machina look very robust and quality is there it will be interesting to see the final product and price to the consumers.

Bummer... was looking forward to how it would perform :(

As the DRC system backers are now aware... the DRC, in desktop form, is not achieving product viability.
This is predominantly due to component quality when bulk ordering from external suppliers... the DRC was viable based on initial quotations, but the parts [at these lower prices] didn't cut it technically, so everything has to be brought back in-house, raising costs exponentially. This could, in turn, be overcome by large infrastructure expansion... but from a company ethos perspective (and on a personal level), bulk consumer products are not the space in which we would like to exist.
For all Kick-Starter purchases, a full refund will be issued in the new financial year. For the DRC system investors, a full refund, plus 3% interest will be returned as a measure of gratitude, and to applaud their support of crowd-funding.
We will be continuing our R&D journey [out of the public domain] with focus on a full sized cutting lathe, along with a high specification turntable, both of which at functioning prototype level.
We sincerely thank you for your support!
Warmest Regards,
Machina.Pro

and then go kickstarter?
the linear actuator is the simplest thing of any cutting lathe.
a nice strong& quiet turntable, cutterhead, amps, vacuum and a nice concept might be a litte bigger task.
great if you reach that within 3 month.
i would ask for more detailed info before invest...

sorry to play the bad guy again.
but we had that dream 15 years ago. the budget was something like 100k.
without paying the hours for electronic development and interests of 3th party investors.
there where 50 units sold and another unknown number of heads amp systems.
lucky we did not had to develop a turntable or a vacuum platter system. i guess that had aised the budget by another 100-200k
Moral of the story- listen to Flo and others who know

Is this project at all legitimate? Non working website, No contact or interaction with their kickstarter. I have been waiting for something like this to come around, costing less than a good used car, but then nothing... I would love to work with a machine that was made in my lifetime and not an antique.
