Interesting project for diy turntable

Anything goes! Inventors! Artists! Cutting edge solutions to old problems. But also non-commercial usage of record cutting. Cost- effective, cost-ineffective, nutso, brilliant, terribly fabulous and sometimes fabulously terrible ideas.

i found this video in youtube
It is running here from 24V through a Mesa Electronics 7i39 three-phase motor driver
The commutation is handled in software, from the output of three hall sensors, with the calculations done in the "bldc" component of LinuxCNC. That is converted to a set of 3-phase PWM signals which are passed on to the motor driver.

This would be very useful for variable groove pitch as well, if you ran a pulley off of it. It's running at a consistent 4 rpm at 10% current, and 48 rpm at 95%, which using the 270 leadscrew on my lathe would work out to 19 to 225 lines per inch at 33 1/3, or 44 to 528 lpi at 78.
