Hi, trolls.
We're creating the own version of stereo cutter head. We have decided to chose modular constraction.
It has some features. For instance, screw clamps for speakers or you can create the parts for the head by using a CNC machine ..

I really appreciate any kind of advices and suggestions concerning this concept.

Hey there,

This is obviously a nice rigid design. It looks good! One thing to note is that how the drivers are mounted is one of the least important parts; all you need to ensure is that they are held rigidly and that they are in the correct 45/45 arrangement. This design of yours might be a little on the chunky side for such minimal requirements– many DIY head builders at some point have run into the problem of their cutterhead hitting the center pin of the record platter.. You want to avoid that, so you may want to try for as little material as possible, especially hanging off the sides.

As you develop this head, your probably going to want to add feedback. You will want to add some mounting holes/structure to accommodate the mounting of feedback magnets and extra positioning springs.

Otherwise, it really looks like you are an apt user of CAD, and that all will be well for you! Its nice to see those flexures that will hold in the transducers– flexures reign supreme when it comes to precision modular mounting.

Here's another question concerning our DIY Aion Head 1.0
Take a look at an attached file.
is there any advices concerning the height of the "mount" of a needle?

As well any suggestions concerning mount of the HEAD to CNC?
For sure it should be fixed?
How to adjust the depth of the groove as precisely as possible.
We can move CNC something like 0,05 mm. But what about weight ? The Pressure of the needle on the record ?

I give 45 grams of pressure to cut half, 20 to 30 grams :)

You will want to keep the 'push rods' as short as possible to reduce moving mass. You will need to ensure that no structural parts of the head touch the disk. This may seem obvious, but it is a commonly made mistake.

Your mounting system will need to allow two main adjustments: The angle of the head and the vertical position of the head.

Depending on the stylus type and what you are cutting or embossing, you will need to adjust the head angle. I would suggest allowing room for an angular adjustment of ± 30º. This is overkill but its good to have.

Depending on the stylus shank that you are using and the thickness of the blank record, you will need to adjust the vertical position of the head. To allow a wide range of experimentation, I suggest allowing 3/4" vertical adjustment. This adjustment will need to be 'locked in' once set for reliable results. One of the best ways to do this is with a dovetail slide actuated by a micrometer screw. Using a dovetail slide design will ensure that the head adjustment keeps the head traveling perpendicular to the disk, once set the gibs can be tightened to fix it in place.

cut 15 -25 g only lacquer
forging, pressing in polycarbonate 35 -45 grams ..
