VMS 70 vacuum hose max length?

I currently have the vacuum in another room to reduce noise. I'm moving the lathe to a different spot and I'll need to extend the distance from the vacuum box to the lathe from about 4' to 8' or more. Does anyone have the vacuum box in a remote location? Anything I should be aware of?

I had a vacuum cleaner in another room with a 6 or 7 metre swimming pool vacuum hose.
Hose diameter about 5cm.
It ran like that for years.
Try it and see.

My vacuum is located in a hallway and I have the hose going through the wall. The length is much longer than needed but does not effect the results.

I'm running 2" hose about 20'. 100's of feet would still be fine. There's very little airflow so distance barely matters if the system is air-tight. And whatever difference there is can be compensated for with the variac.

I have my vacuum, sitting under the swarf jar, Inside a muffler box similar to the ones originally supplied with the lathe,Whilst it is not silent the noise is never a problem.

Silence is golden. Move it out of the room and you'll never go back.

I use one of these bad boys on a long hose:

Still has enough suction to suck your face off!
