Run Out Groove Flaw
I just got some test pressings back from my second lathe.
These were the first I cut with a 45 controller box on the same machine. I am getting an issue where it appears the head is lifting slightly before the locked groove completes.
This results is the groove turns into a "dead end" and the playback stylus jumping onto the label of the record.
This happened with both a 12" and 7" both at 45rpm. This seems to point to an adjustment that needs to be made in the controller box.
Anybody have experience with this?
Thanks!

The trimmer potentiometer is labeled P9. It is paired with capacitor C9. Together they comprise the Delay Cutterhead Release circuit in the PS66 programmer box.
I can post a clip of the schematic in a little bit. The trimmer is setup as a variable resistor not a voltage divider. The sweeper pin is tied to the emitter pin. You need to adjust the trimmer such that it has more reisitance. Therefore the capacitor will drain slower. And the head will stay down longer.
Keep in mind, I know this box inside and out, back and forth by now....

Though I know there are plenty who do it.... I am available for hire as a lathe tech.
