Hello everyone,

I do exactly the oposite as you, record digitally what is on the vynil records! just as a hobby but I spend a lot of time/love doing and tweaking it.

And I would like to ask to the old foxes arround here if you think that some secrets of a good cutting can be used for a good playback?

:D

(sorry for my poor english, I am French and live in Germany for a year and I have difficulties to swith from a language to another..)

i don't think they make it all they way to the final..
yeah to your question.
You need a quality turntable with a good cartidge and needle.
not just a technics..
make sure you have a good audi card and good cables.
Soundforge is a really good programm to record.
Cheers

hello,
I have already these devices but I'm more interested in the mecanic "secrets", like
wich slip-mat du you use? and why? idem for the record clamp.
What kind of crazy settings help you achieving the ultimate neutrality? (or your neutrality )

hi playback, there are some articles in the AES disk recording anthology about tracking distortion and distortion problems relating to cutting, disk geometry etc.

But I'm not sure if you can avoid or reverse any of these in the playback situation (probably more like minimizing).

cheers,

Bob
