Gotham Grampian D feedback

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

been working on gotham + Grampian D system
Trying to figure out what is correct amount of feedback feed back to amp from cutter head. It is not mentioned in Grampian/Gotham manual. Grampian D datasheet says aprox 20db, some people say 8-9db. in gotham amp there is also internal feedback even using with ”plug” in grampian D position.

help & info much appreciated

I'm not an expert on Gothams or Grampians, but, I'd say to contact the people who say it should be 8-9db and ask them about how they got that number and how it would compare to the datasheet/what would happen if you used the datasheet info, and use their feedback.

Hope all goes well, and sorry for not being able to give more concrete info.
