Where to Buy T560?
Hi there Lathe Trolls,
I've recently opened a small recording studio. I'm looking to purchase a T560 to offer short-run vinyl for clients. I see others posting about having worked with the T560 as well as their maker Souri. I've tried contacting Souri at vinylrecorders.com 3 times in the last week but I haven't heard back?!
Does anyone know if they are still in business or if they are non-operational? Perhaps one of you has some experience working with them and longer wait times for a response is to be expected? Maybe a different method of contact that isn't published on their site?
Also, I'm open to information on different stereo lathe models. I'm such a noob to this whole world so forgive my ignorance in advance. Any information would be very much appreciated!
Best,
Josh Schroeder (schroedbot)

Hey, I've contacted them also, they did reply to me stating they are taking a break due to COVID
Re: Where to Buy T560?
hey Josh, give a search to the rest of the forum about folks attempts to contact souri, no disrespect but there are many stories of difficulties communicating and securing an order, I would highly suggest you read as much as you can from folks before going ahead

Re: Where to Buy T560?
I'm very glad to know this, @tragwag. I will definitely do my due diligence and check out other peoples experiences on the forum. I'm willing to put up with some eccentricities and lags in communication for a stellar product - and thankfully my studio partner and I have a lot of mechanical experience to rely upon.tragwag wrote: ↑Tue Sep 01, 2020 1:23 pmhey Josh, give a search to the rest of the forum about folks attempts to contact souri, no disrespect but there are many stories of difficulties communicating and securing an order, I would highly suggest you read as much as you can from folks before going ahead
Do you have a T560? What's your experience with it, if so? Do you have any advice on other lathes on the market?
We've had so many clients ask about vinyl but don't have the budget for minimum 250-500 count(s). We're looking for a solution for artists to make a return on their recording investment - especially in these times when so many of the musicians revenue streams are basically halted... as you all know, short run vinyl offers the artist a product they can sell direct to fan and make a profit, hopefully offsetting recording costs.
The lathe cutting world seems a well-kept secret - so I'm just honored to have been let into this forum. All my best, Josh

Hi Josh,
In the interest of fair balance, when you're doing your 'due diligence' reading, also take into account the number of folks on here who have nothing but praise for Souri and the service he provides for them and their businesses.
btw, I'm not one of them but I'm friends with some who are!

3 times in 1 week?
Well you’re blocked now!

Re: Where to Buy T560?
Yes if you have contacted 3 times in a week he might well block you. Personally, I get on with Souri, but if you make him feel hassled that could be it.... He doesn't make many machines these days. It's just a case of wait and see now, for sure he will know you email and will contact if he decided to sell you one! They do some up for sale now and again on here so keep your eyes peeled!
Re: Where to Buy T560?
I got one of him more than a year ago.
Long history in sound but took me about a year to make really good cuts. You should really want this, because it will be extremely frustrating, expensive and time consuming, stop everything your doing besides cutting

Re: Where to Buy T560?
Personally, I have had nothing but great experiences with Souri. Patience is probably the best advice I can give you. My process took quite some time but it was all worth it in the end.

Re: Where to Buy T560?
Correct! He doesn’t care if he sells them or not and is not desperate for sales whatsoever.schroedbot wrote: ↑Mon Sep 21, 2020 1:24 pmHilarious, yes! But well... #seriousbuyer. I guess if one resorts to blocking one who inquires about purchasing their product they must not be entirely serious about selling them!? But thank you for the feedback.
Re: Where to Buy T560?
hey yeah I have two T560s I cut on every day, it's my day job.schroedbot wrote: ↑Tue Sep 01, 2020 1:42 pmI'm very glad to know this, @tragwag. apologies if this comes off like an ad, but it might be a good idea to contract to a working cutter (im here!)
and see if your expectations of the machine live up to you and your clients needs

Me the same. No answer after some mails... Can't wait for his replay. I really want to buy that machine
I had to go and learn how to use the machine in February ... but then there was the stop due to the virus

Re: Where to Buy T560?
Agreed... I don't think he's taking any chances with The Rona. I wouldn't blame him, either.

I can't use the T560... I need the training day...
