delay for neumann vms 70
Hi,
I just installed the system and i'm seeking for a delay solution...
Who is using what overhere?
At this moment i use a TC ELECTRONIC D TWO, but i guess there are better -read cleaner- delays.
Also i have tried to do it in cubase using a soundcard, but i guess i don't know cubase good enough
Any advise?
Thanks

Al did his magic????? thats great.
The TC units are really some of the cleaner ones around. I was going to pickup a D Two soon. I had been using a behringer ultracurve 8024 but the sound was terrible.
You can use Cubase as long as you have multiple out soundcard.
Copy same program to two tracks. Shift the track that goes to the Sal by the MS needed. done. I use Logic and each track can have a 'delay'.
Issue I have found that if i decide I need to eq/compress/etc a file last minute that I then need to put the same processing on the pitch computer channel as well.
Transfer console soon i hope with a D Two in the chain.

Klark Teknik actually made a digital delay for disc cutting in the '80s. It had two delay times only - one for 45rpm cutting and the second for 33.3rpm. We never actually saw one here in australia but I found the spec sheet last week. I think the price back then was about $AUD 2,500-00.
Any decent digital delay will do the trick. The Neumann manual specifies the delay time for each speed. You can save these delay times as pre-sets and recall them fast.
Be sure it is a real stereo (ie: 2 channel) delay. Some delay units take a stereo input and create a pseudo stereo delay output that is actually out of phase and so it will be impossible to cut this signal.
Rane (USA) makes some good product and you might look at the ADA22 digital delay although others here will have more recent and hands-on experience.

My studio-delay
Hello
I use in my studio YAMAHA SPX 2000 for the delay.
I won't use it in the mastering line.
Yes i use it just for the pitch.
CUBASE and DELAY plugg'in for the cutting lathe it's not good solution.
Good Delay is the BEST for your pitch control !
Here's for me

so you are using the delay going to the signal for the pitch computer signal?
isn't that opposite?
i delay the program material so that the zuma can catch up. that is the problem though needing the delay at the end of the program signal...
