Making a lathe with a washing machine motor

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

Can anyone direct me to some good resources on making a lathe mostly from scratch ala Peter King or Les Paul? Thanks in advance!

Hi,

That's really agitating

You won't find compete plans anywhere. But if you search around here you'll see lots of DIY builds. That should give you some inspiration.

Give it a spin and it should come out in the wash.

That was a very, very punny reply. Well played sir, well played.

I met Les Paul once, who told me a bit about his lathe. I believe the platter is the flywheel from a Cadillac transmission.
Can't recall anything else at this point. _M
