New RIAA Standard For Vinyl Records?

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

Let's re do the pre emphasis curve! I'm sure back then no one ever envisaged today's overly bright digital recordings.
I mean an 18 db boost above 1K. a bit much maybe!

Totally wishful thinking! I mean modifying all those pre amps :D 8) just kidding guys!

The tail end of the article hints to
possibly qualifying what "audiophile" actually means. I might start a topic...

I have a feeling the technical brain trust at the major labels bought HD Vinyl hook line and sinker. They probably even gave them money. Suckers.

It's the same thing every time someone comes up with an improvement in cutting technology. Playback must be improved to realize any benefit. Playback is the bottleneck.

I remember reading that Neumann never did any cutterhead development after the SX74 as they waited for cartridge manufacturers to catch up and they never did.

I'm guessing the RIAA will define what constitutes "audiophile" as its a term that gets used everywhere without qualification and causes disdain amongst consumers.
