Fixing my Presto K-10 - a good news story

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

Fixing my Presto K-10 - a good news story

I've always had trouble with my K-10 since I bought it on Ebay years ago. It didn't want to spin at exactly 78 RPM (The speed I wanted to cut most of my records). Recently, the motor began to seize up. Luckily, I had also bought an incomplete Presto K-8 to use for parts. Despite not being mechanically or electrically inclined, I managed to swap out the motor from the K-8 and not only does it run, but its quieter and runs at exactly 78 RPM!
