Diamond Styli

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

Can anyone suggest a reliable supplier of a diamond cutting stylus for a Presto? Any suggestions would be helpful.

Ask nicely Mr. Chouet from Myshank. I buy my presto long shanks from him, great product, great service. Mr.Chouet is has very been helpful as well whenever I have some newbie questions and has always been prompt to answer my questions by email.

myshank (Steven's) diamonds are probably the best you can get.

Seems like the original conflict was initiated by another thread about pvc blanks and the differences between Myshank blanks and its new competitors pvc blanks. Are there any trolls out there that have used the new pvc blanks from the Record blanks camp yet? Im curious to read a review about these , the good , the bad and especially compared to the Myshank pvc blanks. The comparisons review I read from the other thread was posted by the seller of the Record blanks pvc, so maybe its alittle partial, but maybe its true, so im hoping somebody out there can give a unbiased review of these blanks.
respect,
Patrick

I have a question about setting up the Diamond shank. I was looking at the pdf from Deep Grooves mastering on adjusting the angle of the shank to 15 to 20 degrees.

Does this apply to all diamond needles (myshank, deep groove)?

http://www.deepgroovesmastering.com/share/Plastic_Cutting_Guide.pdf

I sent a email to myshank and got no reply so i thought i should ask here.

Also what is the life of these diamonds compared to a sapphire?

Yes, unfortunately the answer is/was--drama. I guess this forum is called "trolls" for a reason. :)
