Upgraded To A Presto 8C

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

Drove for 14 hours each way to pick up this beauty this weekend... Upgraded from a K8 to a 8C... apparently a prototype and only two known to exist.

You should be real happy with this choice. I had an 8C and it was my second most favorite of many presto lathes I have had. I made modifications of mine for 45 plus the 78 and 33 speeds, vacuum table hold down, swarf (thread) removal, and hot stylus.

PM me if you need any help.

Nice.. yeah I have a 45rpm adapter and having a new screw made for micro groove since we could not figure out the complicated pulley system. I have a vacuum plate but no clue how to connect it etc. I will probably PM you. thanks!
