Need turntable opinions, please.
I've got a question for those of you who have experience with Technics direct-drive turntables. Does the Technics SP-15 have sufficient horsepower for use as a cutting table? Many thanks in advance.
Re: Need turntable opinions, please.
I have a technics sp10 installed for my vinylrecorder . Its perfect for cutting because of the perfect bearing and the high torgue . The wow and flutter is 0,01% or 1 Hz that is very good . I think the Sp15 is ok. but not so strong like a sp10 . I would wait getting a Sp10.
good luck

Len Horowitz has used an SP-10 in his bedroom since before he went out and got his own studio in Culver City nearly 40 years ago. And the one in the bedroom still works and is still driven by the same Technics turntable.

I have checked the manuals of both sp10 and sp15 . the sp10 has 5 kg/cm and the sp15 2.5 kg/cm torque. Also the bearings and the motor of the sp15 looks more like a 1210.

Hey, guys,
Thanks very much to both of you. Back in the '70s or '80s, I saw a Technics sales guy at an AES show stand on an SP10 and accelerate to 33-1/3 r.p.m. withiin one revolution, a testament to the torque... and his balance. I'll hold out for the SP10, then.
