cutter cuts with surface noise

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

okay i posted awhile ago about my meissner model 9-1065 cutting with high end surface noise before and after on and off months fiddling with it, i have determined that the left channel cuts decent enough and the right channel is the surface noise. this is a mono cutter so im assuming it is vibrating in such a way to cause a right track to form that isnt from the music.

is there any way to eliminate this right channel noise?

Have you tried a new cutting stylus? That would be the first thing to do.
