Fairchild 740 Cutting Lathe Manual

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

It's extremely rare that a Fairchild 740 ever comes to market so price is more of what people are willing to pay at the moment than anything that can have a definite kind of "blue book" value.

In terms of build and capabilities - they are generally better than Presto but not as good as Scully. So - the price usually falls in between what you would expect for these two systems. i.e. more than $1000 and less than $10000, depending on what is included and condition.

Sorry to be so vague - but unfortunately this kind of item's pricing is just that way.

Best regards,
Steve Berson
