10" lathe cuts.

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

10" lathe cuts.

I had posted a request, but quickly realized I'd titled it poorly (and most likely in the wrong area)... so, I'll put myself at the mercy of the court.

Looking to have some 10" lathe cut records done...
Length is aprox. 12-15 mins a side.

Is anyone cutting in stereo, or is it all mono?

Minimum order?
Pricing??

I've seen some cuts done on black vs. clear... is there a sound benefit to the black?
(or even less of a dust magnet??)

Feel free to reply here or pm me...
thanks again.

i can do some 10" lathe cuts for you.
mine are mono, on clear.

those cuts you've seen on black are the same exact material, no noticeable sonic difference.

Black discs are simply two clear layers glued together with a black sheet in the middle. What Tyler said is dead on correct. They have the appearance of being black, but what you are cutting into is actually clear plastic (which does give the best sound).

Thanks, I was curious about that.

While I enjoy the look of the clear vinyl, I had seen some black lathe cuts, and had wondered about that.
