Re: Mastering with the t560
I wouldn't worry about masters yet, cut your teeth on t560 lathe cuts for some time...lots of time! Then start considering what you need to meet professional standards from there. Maybe you can achieve those standards with the t560... but you won't know until you've become a pro to cut like a pro.

Re: What model of lathe cut is it?
t560 might be your only choice right now in that price bracket besides the Phonocut (can't speak if it is good for short run stuff). Go older if for mono, cheaper machines to buy and good to learn on (Presto, Rek-o-kut, RCA, etc..)

Re: Bad lacquers quality
Just getting my Neumann lathe set up and I thought I was having cutting depth issues. Glad to hear I'm not going crazy.. mine are MDC as well. Not glad to hear there are MDC surface problems when spending over USD $1,000 per box

Could you take some pictures of the laminator? I've always been curious of the discs and the laminator he uses.Voxster1965 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 14, 2017 9:34 amYou really need a disc laminator if you are going to do this. I think Souri still sells them.

Re: Transparent blanks behaves differently when cutting
I do find black blanks are quieter. Although, clear shouldn't be giving you a huge noise floor difference unless your stylus is coming to an end. Make sure to measure heat from outside of the blank and heat from outside, clears take forever to heat up.

Better than the stanton decks but not better than 1200 with souris motor. We still need a precision platter on ours though, there is a little bit of visible run out

yes we must move forward... there must be a format we can make with blank discs and lasers that don't crackle and pop or wear down with usage.....Oldskoolhousehead wrote: ↑Thu Aug 06, 2020 3:34 pmHowever, vinyl production must go to the next level at some point (at least that's how I feel about it). The Apollo disaster proved that.

Re: VR: Heat Affecting Dashpot?
I had to get some new oil from Souri, tried a lot of different substitutes. Steven said he knows the recipe, but not sure if he's making it anymore. Wrong dashpot oil can cause lift outs for sure. Honestly, most of these issues are from sticking parts. I like to drop the head up and down off the pla...

Re: Need modern record for handcranked Gramophone/Victrola
Hi, I’ll second Kim Gutzke of customrecords.com for what you are looking for. A one-off disc is not inexpensive, however Kim offers a disc that will play on an acoustic gramophone. Kim is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. He uses a Fairchild 740 Lathe outfitted with a Westrex 3DII cutterhead....

Re: Power Conditioner Advice!
I use furman stuff, one in my recording studio with LIFT and seems to work fine. Always good to get one, used monster ones come cheap on eBay They make a bunch of filters, even jensen has an expensive one. Got to just do the buy and try dance for a while, most companies are pretty lenient on returns...
