Re: Digital Delay for VMS70 - Gauging Interest
It's designed to work from an AES input. (no analog inputs) The unit has 1 AES input and 2 AES outputs. O/P 1 is straight and O/P 2 is delayed for either 33.3 or 45 via a switch. You take the AES outputs and feed them to your D/A converter(s) of choice, which feeds program and preview. Yes, if you a...

I think Temmer was the one who did all of the German to English translation/interpretation for the Neumann lathe manuals as well.

Re: Transco Lacquers and Styli
Have you tried rocking the disc back and forth during the distortion area to see if the pitch/sound of the distortion follows the speed of the disc. Like editing a downbeat on analog tape.. If the distortion is not there or doesn't follow in pitch with the rotation speed of the disc, then it's track...

Maybe cut the same source at 45rpm and see what you get.

Re: Transco Lacquers and Styli
Hey Greg, Sounds like playback tracking distortion. If the source is mono, and you're playing the cut back with a stereo cartridge, you'll get tracking distortion from sibilance that's completely exposed on the sides. Unless there's a calibration issue, or the source is not 100% mono, there should b...

Re: Transco Lacquers and Styli
Hi Greg,
I had a recent issue with vertical chatter distortion.
It was the shank loose in the torque tube.
The shanks are not all made equal and some become loose or don't fit correctly.
If re-seating it doesn't help, try replacing the stylus.
Hope this helps,
JJG

Re: Stylus falls out (HELP!)
Is this the first time this has happened?
There are times when the stylus shank is fabricated out of spec.
You can check it with a micrometer at both ends and compare that to an older stylus for your own info.
If you feel it's out of spec, contact apollo for an exchange.

Re: wtb TK Audio TK-Lizer
Hi Tricks, I have the Tk-lizer. It's a great eq, well built, clean and solid. The Eliptical eq on the HPF in M/s mode is cool too. It's really nice for some gentle mid side work, but with only 4db of cut and boost eq, you may find yourself needing something more versatile on some cutting projects. (...

If I understood the question correctly:
The square collar is "not always" perfectly aligned horizontally to the flat face of the cutting facet.
Sometimes they are off by quite a bit.

Re: Quick question for the mastering pros
There's a lot of components to this question and a lot of variables. There are artistic answers and there are scientific ones. I believe the science is a component of the art, so here's my response from that perspective: First the words, "Better" and "Quality" are defined by the end listeners person...
