Thanks!
That's interesting, i'm not in a hurry. I will try soon a borrowed Fairchild mono head and if that works I may need a replacement. Would you ship to Argentina?
Kind regards

Re: Embossing on X-ray
x ray sheets, I believe, are not suited at all for embossing what could lead some to think that is of course the many russian embossed x ray sheets. But none of these were embossed, they were used a medium for a flexidisc ie. stamped in hot letterpress type machine from a cutted master That, actual...

Re: Possibly a Similar Question About a Silvertone Recorder.
It is probably the autoreturn of the turntable, that doesn't like to have the arm that far into the inner part of the circle. I happened to me when playing recorded CDs.
Also check the antiskating setting.
Kind regards!

Re: How to do RIAA encoding with software
Hi! What I find is that using the RIAA eq in a plugin lowers a lot the available output level (as it has to increase a lot the high frequencies and you want to avoid clippng the audio). So the the power amp has to have a lot of gain to recover from that loss. I never used the Analog way, because my ...

Amazing! I'd love to be there but I'm too far. Any chance of repeating it in January after Winter NAMM? (I'll be in the US by then)

Re: Embossing polycarbonate (with video)
Hi, I'm using Nuendo, I think it's basically the same as Cubase. You can see the equalization applied with Izotope Ozone, to compensate for some of the resonances of the head. After that comes the inverse RIAA plugin, a deesser and a limiter. I also compressed the audio about 3:1 before that. Kind r...

Embossing polycarbonate (with video)
So, this is my final 2014 try before I go on well deserved vacations for a month. I'm pretty happy with the results, long way to go yet. Material: Polycarbonate blank Stylus: backwards sapphire at aprox 45 degrees (angle betwen the blank and the engraving edge) Angulo Records machine The PC I had le...

Re: Patterns and low frequency
Hi Jccc! I will check that! On the microscope it looks like I have a vertical modulation, as the grooves get wide and thin even though the audio feed is silence. Perhaps an up and down movement of the CD could be causing this? I lock it in place using double sided tape, but that is around the middle...

Patterns and low frequency
Hello all: I'm having this problem, embossing on CD, if you can see in the picture: IMG_4661.JPG IMG_4662.JPG On the outer edge of the CD, now I'm getting this low freq which appears out of nowhere (is not in the audio signal). It seems to be related to te weight of cutting, if I use less weight ten...

Re: Embossing on X-ray
It was the autoreturn!
I disabled it and now the records play up until the spindle if I want to.
Time for a beer
Kind regards

Re: Embossing on CD
Perhaps this could be a turntable problem. After all it is an automatic, it shouldn't be playing that inner grooves at all! Sometimes it "remebers" and refuses to play, so maybe the mechanism is forcing it to skip once it reachs a certain point? The skips seem to happen at the same angle of the arm....

Embossing on CD
Hi! I'm still practicig my ways on embossing CDs with the Angulo machine. I was starting to get good reproduction, but something changed at one point and I can't go back to where I was :( The issue at the moment is tracking. No matter what I do, regarding andle of the saphire and weight, I get skips...

Re: Need CD-Records Cut , in Europe if possible
Hi! One silly question, when you play the CD records, how do you avoid the autoreturn of the turntable? I'm trying some at this time, and in one turntable I can play fine, and in the other the autoreturn trips as soon as the arm goes into the "lable zone". And also, sometimes it won't trip and then ...

Re: Embossing on X-ray
Hi tragwag That's cool that you sell the ready-to-cut blanks! I wish I were located near :( but Argentina is far from everywhere... I got some random pieces of PC, and some were cut to size but warped (I suppose I wasn't explicit enough of my needs to the seller). But some were OK and worked fine, s...

Re: Embossing on X-ray
Hi! Did you happen to try with polycarbonate film? if so, what width? I just got a roll of 250 micron PC, which I don't think it is the lexan brand. But I find it is too thin and it doesn't stays level and flat, like an xray sheet does. And that compromises the whole cut and reproduction process :( ...
