I also would totally spin you some and send them to you if you send me a drawing! I'd be happy to return a favor.

Re: Project "Groove Scribe"- A DYI stereo 45/45 head.

Hey Bryan, I've been following your updates, very exciting! The spin method has been really fun to play with. I'm still working on those tools but have been getting good results with the beverage can aluminium regardless of trying a number of different gauges of aluminium. It's quite easy to tear th...

Re: BD's Mechanical Disk Recorder Build

Made progress today with the spinning tools. Im working in two main roller tools so far, the photo shows the roller-head and the steel handle that will be installed on each. These will accommodate a fine and course-point wheel I will make soon. I have not tracked down any information on spinning on ...

Re: Project "Groove Scribe"- A DYI stereo 45/45 head.

Please, engineers or physicians out there, clear this up for me. Do I have this right? Physicians are Doctors. Physicists would be the group to ask. You can rest assured that Physicists would agree with me. Not sure about Physicians... 8) The coil provides zero force. The magnetic fields supply the...

Re: Project "Groove Scribe"- A DYI stereo 45/45 head.

What Markrob is not considering is the fact that it is not wave propagation at that point but Newtonian physics that is inducing the feedback current so the calculation is irrelevant here. Regardless of if there has been prior discussion on a topic, that doesn't mean that there isn't yet undiscover...

Re: Project "Groove Scribe"- A DYI stereo 45/45 head.

Awesome work, Bryan! Just a bit of tangental discussion to clear up here: Physics would care to disagree with part of this statment, fyi. Imagine you have a rod measuring 12" in length. You put a mark at 6" and another at 10" from one end of the rod. You place two cameras over each mark with a dista...

Not quite as simple as saying aluminum bobbin.... There is a trick to it to avoid eddy currents in the aluminum that will negate high frequencies. The aluminum will fight the drive coil.

Re: diy transducer experiments

Hey friend,

Have you tried making the bottom-most portion aluminium? This might help saturate the flux where you want it, in that gap.

Try it our on the simulator and see if it does anything!

Re: BD's Mechanical Disk Recorder Build

Hey folks, It's been a while since I've updated my progress here but let me assure you it has not stopped! Heavy course load last semester really slowed me down, but now I'm full steam ahead working on a feedback cutterhead. I'm excited to share some of my discoveries over the next little while and ...

Hey!

I think the winding machine 1.25 overlap gcode method sounds great!

Maybe you could get some PVA filament, wind the coil, dissolve the bobbin in water!!!

Re: Deep Grooves Mastering - Project Bladerunner

Looking good!! You must be very happy to have a lathe now! If I may lend one potentially obvious piece of advice, it is this: The tool geometry specific to each material makes a huge difference in how smoothly the cut is made. With correct tool geometry [for the material being machined], very little...
