Re: Arduino for variable LPI

Thanks Lukas. Actually - I was thinking of connecting the circuit directly to the cutter head feed as their is currently no additional eq'ing to compensate for the head. My VU meters are connected to this feed and - well - I thought it would make sense to connect the pitch-regulator there as well. B...

Re: Arduino for variable LPI

I was thinking along the line of this, where the low pass is calculated with a cutoff frequency of 10hz which would put me within the stop band and the low-pass would more or less act like a leaky integrator. I could measure the + / - values at L-C or and R-C . Now I am neither an ee nor have I ever...

Re: Arduino for variable LPI

Thanks Mark. I was planning on going directly from the cutting signal (after RIAA). I thought about coupling both channels with a high resistance to mono and re-amplify to measure voltage. So you suggest a leaky integrator in that mono-fied signal path that would increasingly drop the higher frequen...

Arduino for variable LPI

Howdy : I am planning to use an Arduino driven PWM circuit to power the motor driving the screw of the over head. I'd like to implement some real time pitch control to increases or decreases pitch width in regard to the low frequencies. This will of course not be perfect as this approach will be eas...

The search engine sucks or I am a retard. Please share for this newbie what vacuum system to use, quality over price. Don't care about a plastic aquarium pump conversion. Need something pro and feel like I am wasting time navigating the site. There's plenty of information buried in here. I know, be...

But its not too complicated to fix those. True - this is very overpriced, but it would be a nice piece for a collector or museum. The beginning of pirated music ;)

hey Michaela, I'm very busy right now, but as you are to me sympathetic and you know my Berlin scene (Motte ect.) Think I currently if I build this cutting head for you. but I have to check up the first. Very cool - thanks. Yes - of course I know Matthias from the very early days of the "Love Parad...

Re: Who can help me with my VR T560 cutterhead?

OK guys - just a few more questions: As the preferred tweeters are not so easy to get here in the US, I am starting to look for alternatives. What are the preferred frequency ranges for the tweeters? Most of them will not go below about 2Khz. Is that ok? Did somebody try to build a cutter head from ...

Re: Acetate Plates VS PVC Plates

I am cutting PVC with a Rek-O-Kut / Garmpian. I am using a regular heat lamp to heat the blank to around 100 F - measured with a touch less digital thermometer. You have to heat the blank while spinning, otherwise it will warp. The biggest difference is the swarf (chip / thread) in combination with ...

WTB: Fairchild / RCA / Presto Lathe

I am (still) looking for an affordable lathe with a fixed bridge - not Rek-O-Kut platter powered style. Contact me via PM. Thanks.

There are only two places in the world that produce and sell lacquers . There are a number of different types of blanks available, PVC, Polycarbonate to name a few. All of them have special requirements (like different styli) advantages and disadvantages. Some folks don't even cut but imprint the gr...

Re: Who can help me with my VR T560 cutterhead?

Good morning Scptty .. sunny greetings from the Texas Gulf coast. I was following the discussing very closely as I would very much like to go "Stereo" and it seems that it shouldn't be too complicated to follow what you guys tried and built. Thanks for sharing. This thread is the very spirit of a "T...

Re: Who can help me with my VR T560 cutterhead?

Ok. I guess I have to dive in to build my own cutter head. You have done great work. Thank you very much. However - is there a consensus as to what tweeters are the best to use? And - I couldn't quite figure it: Are those cones to be filled with silicone .. or left empty ?

Re: How is possible to record sounds?

One thing that is helping me to understand is this article, http://www.physicsclassroom.com/class/sound/Lesson-3/Interference-and-Beats When it talks about "Musical Beats and Intervals", you can see that when two different notes (red and blue waves) are played together, the result is a wave (the gr...

Re: How is possible to record sounds?

I know it's physics. Let's take something simple, without electricity involved, like the early Edison phonographs. What I would like to see is what determines the groove shapes. I tried to explain that. It all boils down to differences in air pressure. The membrane in a microphone (or Edison receiv...

Re: How is possible to record sounds?

You know .. it's not really a miracle but physics. Audio / Sound is noting but a series of air pressure differences and displacements that makes a membrane (e.g in a microphone) vibrate. This vibration can be converted into electrical impulses. The electrical impulses can be amplified and recorded. ...

Vinyl Boxes

Fellow trolls - (hope this is the right forum) as some of you already know, my company is producing a remastered (from metal parts) Glenn Miller release of 10 songs on 78rpm vinyl. We are now in the process of selecting the manufacturer of our boxes. We asked for quotes from several "box makers" in ...
