Fairchild 653 Expander + Fairchild 661TL Gate

Everyone knows I love Fairchild equipment, I own quite a few of their lathes, amps, heads, etc. but these modules I have doubles of, and I just have to slim down. I'm asking $250 for the 653 expander and $200 for the 661 gate. Maybe $20 extra for shipping or i can bundle them together for a fair pri...

...It seems I would no longer be a productive musician if I owned a lathe due to costs, maintenance etc. Maybe time... Tell that to DJ Misjah, Dietrich Schoenemann, Quantic, ETC. Yes exactly. I think what he is looking for is called a CD burner.

Anything made by Fairchild is worth the effort. Brilliant machines for mid-level / intermediate cutting techniques.

Though, interestingly enough, I have never heard of cook.

Any photos ?

Re: Lathe Disaster

It's all pretty much destroyed. The head was destroyed, amp destroyed and the cutting arm is actually bent out of place. Also my turntable and a master was destroyed. There are very few things salvageable from the mess. I have found a cutter I might be buying that needs a shit ton of work but doesn...

Look at price for getting a dub plate cut at a professional house. Get some kid who bought a presto k-8 last year to cut you a piece of lexan for $25. then get a dub plate cut by Richard Simpson for $100. Then tell me the difference in audio quality and playback quality. The kid with the K-8 is embo...

hi dave

nice job on the preamps.

do you mind spilling some info as to where you source those nice 19 inch rack cases? I make mine from recycled telecom components, but those are admittedly very nice cases.

Re: Making money / Supporting yourself cutting records?

Just imagine trying to run a niche market tape duplication service with ONE (70 year old) TAPE RECORDER, and pay the bills.

Then half your products jam when played back on a less-than-perfect tape player. (poly cuts are unreliable)

Yes, trouble with the stylus was mostly user error and inexperience. I am unaware of the price of that machine.... Yes, but how did you get the one with the stylus falling out? Did it just show up on your front porch one day? ... considering scarcity, there really is no "price tag" to be given to t...
