And by perpendicular, I actually mean the exact opposite. Wow, sorry about that. Bottom of the cutterhead should be PARALLEL to the surface of the disc. Oof.

Re: looking for vinylrecorder upgrades
Hello Luca! In my opinion, I would suggest getting a different turntable that has more torque than an SL-1200 instead of getting the external motor. Maybe a Pioneer PLX-1000. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/DJ/Turntable/PLX-1000 I have a Stainless steel plate that I manufactured that I could ...

Re: Best Settings for Bayer Makrolon Discs
Honestly, just don't worry yourself with trying to make your own blanks. It's not cost effective enough! - Aside from that, The Shank has as superior blank. Vouching hard for him here. Truly, longest stylus life and quietest groove with minimal heat. That being said, if you're going to stick with PC...

Re: background noise problem by vacuum with vinyl recorder t
First thing I did with mine was remove the tank from mounting place on the base of the vinylrecorder. I have it mounted to a stand that sits behind the lathe now, that way no vibrations are transfered to the cutter. I suggest you do the same!

I'm assuming every frequency point of the RIAA would have to be cut in half. Correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks!

Re: Half Speed Mastering
Digital speed reduction - and down to 50%? Ugh. Artifact City. And digital downrezzing? Equally bad. You'd be better off bumping to 15 or even 30 IPS quarter-inch (or even the new JRF Magnetics 2-track half-inch) analog - adjusting your NAB curve (or recording at 30 since there's no curve to adjust...

Re: Half Speed Mastering
Hi, Is your plan to pre-process the file with the RIAA first and then downsample. Also, watch your levels. Remember that at normal speed, 5cm/sec 1Khz is only 2.5 cm/sec at 500 hz when you slow it down 50%. So you should be able to back off on the level a bit (or shoot for a hotter cut than your he...

Re: Feedback Cutterhead System: Vinylrecorder Options
Well, reached out to Flo, says that we would be the first and doesn't know if it will work. So, now maybe we keep waiting for Souri. Does anyone else on this forum have Souri's Vinylrecorder Feedback system?? I've seen a few users on YouTube that have it, considering reaching out to them about the d...

Re: Made A Trip to Germany Last Week: Newbilt
Since this NewBilt company is partnered with RPA, I have no doubt that these units will be fully functional and not a scam. They are including a technician for install as well when the Machines arrive. Some improvements they have made from the old FineBilts include computer controllers that are all ...

Feedback Cutterhead System: Vinylrecorder Options
Hey trolls. So, yes I am a proud owner of a Vinylrecorder system. I do love it, but looking at upgrading my Cutterhead. Souri is holding off for feedback upgrade for now, but I was curious who all on this forum makes a quality feedback system that could be mounted to Vinylrecorder carriage. I have h...

Made A Trip to Germany Last Week: Newbilt
So, Walter (my colleague here at Twin Hill/Berlin Mastering), and I flew to Germany last week for the Newbilt Open House and it was all very exciting. Got to see the presses full mechanics, however no pressing because there is no in house boiler. They are working on some exciting things with the New...

WTB: Vinylrecorder Feedback Cutterhead + Module and More!
Hello all! A long shot in the dark here, but are there any users that wish to part with their Feedback Cutterhead and Module for the Vinylrecorder?? Also! If anyone has an automatic groove distance controller as well, that would be most supreme. I'm willing to make a trade of my Dynamic Cutterhead a...

Re: blank wrap [warp] problem with souri's disk
I have found that Souri is overly aggressive with his guidelines for cutting. I would try cutting at a much lower surface temperature for the disc. No more than say 27 degrees celsius. Also, don't leave the lamp on the platter without a blank on it. The platter will get so hot over time that as soon...

I mean, that's the only option. Send it back to him and have him reshape. Otherwise you're out a whole styli.

Re: Installing new stylus on vinylrecorder
Well, I've been down that road as well. However, I chalk it up to a manufacturing irregularity. I've had defective Styli show up from Souri and from Apollo / Transco. Once in a blue moon, but, it happens.
