I think, tolerance is 0.2mm, DMM 0.1mm,
but don´t beat me ;)
Well then, it is very well-centered - Kudos to them.

Disk Union TV - Part 40 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAdgw2dU33I&feature=related Shows pressing Nice. But I wouldn't have included in a demo video, a demonstration of how off-center one of the pressings was, as they did at 1:32... I don't even know what the "generally accepted tolerances" are tho...

At one time, I had an audio-processing plugin which you could "press a button", and it would automatically look for clipped waves at the peak level, and round them slightly (user-controllable). It required that there would have been NO subsequent EQ changing on the audio, between when the clipping o...

The one thing that was missing from this world... a steam powered record player. Back in 2008, some guy had made a steam powered Victrola, shown at a steam-powered model engine convention - youtube vid: http://i2.ytimg.com/vi/1hgBUkDEcNw/default.jpg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hgBUkDEcNw Believ...

If you're cutting 45 rpm's, you could slow the sound on the computer down to 74% of the original speed, and cut at 33...

... why spend money for something that would not even come near what you have? Cheers It depends on who's buying the record. You need a mid-range turntable and a shitty turntable to check your cuts on. If its a dance track then an Sl1200 is fine. The last thing you want is returns with records that...

I would build a separate cooling station so that I can keep the plattens at temperature. I don't want to waste any heating energy. Mark, FASCINATING results, man! OK. Here are some cards I'd been sort of holding close to my chest until I could try experimenting with it some, but it seems less and l...

(offtopic) Piaptk - about the casting bubbles: Markrob's ahead of me on this: I have not yet tried microgroove records, since it seemed to me too much of a challenge to start with; I'm a big time fan of the older coarse-groove (about 3 times as large groove tip radius) 78 rpm's, so I started with th...

Given the lighter tracking magnetic pickup, I wonder if you would be better off cutting lacquers with a standard steel or saphire stylus to start. You won't get great wear out of them, but given the use, I bet they last longer than expected on this juke. agreed. Also, minor note - a few uncommon 78...

Ok. Seriously though, I was only trying to keep this guy from blowing his head. It is a mistake a lot of new cutters have made. It is a mistake that even knowledgeable cutters have made. It would be darn shame for someone to blow their head become discouraged without really even getting started. Ag...

If you REALLY don't know anything about the record-making process, this WON'T teach you how to cut records, but at least will give you a "macro" view of the process. By the way, these days, there are different ways of making records; some are cut or embossed directly one-at-a-time for extremely shor...

Cool, Piaptk - "go 78s"! (cut with Direct Metal Mastering, a.k.a. "shallowest grooves ever", kinda silly for a 78, but still very cool looking ) Just like original Berliners :) Ah, interesting... I've collected over 8,000 78's back as a kid when I had the time (strictly later 1920s-50s) and didn't k...

Tom Waits has put out a 78

Tom Waits has put out a new 78... (even though it's vinyl, and it costs $50  but it's supposed to be for benefit of Preservation Hall in New Orleans) http://theendofbeing.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/pres78342.jpg Article: http://theendofbeing.com/2010/10/12/tom-waits-releases-new-78rpm-recor...
