Interesting, reminds me of the RCA horizontal cutter heads. I see a stylus screw and what looks like an advance ball to help manage cut depth.

Re: Presto 8n Motor Noise
Sounds like the fan is loose or possibly the felt in the motor is worn out, that's a metal on metal noise to me. All the screws snug?

Re: WTB Rek-O-Kut C-7 cabinet
I would build a replica. The price it's going to cost to get an original and get it shipped or pick it up somewhere would be more than a good copy. I can take pictures/measurements of mine if you like.

Re: Bodine motor pulley removal..?
Typically there would be a set screw or it was press fit into place. Typically the threaded center hole was used to remove the pulley with a puller. I use mine to hold my 45rpm adapter on.

Re: Hi Thread, Trying to Get K-8 Up and Running
You must have the pinion for anything to work. Hopefully it's in the box marked "pinion". They made them for outside-in and inside-out cutting. Chances are yours is for outside-in cutting. There is no 33rpm worm gear for this machine. The K8 uses only 1 worm gear on the platter shaft, the size of th...

Re: Presto Lathe 6N
I looks like it's supposed to be driven by the turntable like a traditional 6N overhead but the dimensions make it look like the head would be much too far forward for a proper cut. It could have been adapted/designed as a motor driven feedscrew set up given that connector/clutch system on the oppos...

Why isn't there contact information on the website? Looks very shady. 1 post on Twitter, 1 post on Insta, and 1 post here. Looks like a good product but I'll pass for the time being.

I'd recommend a hole punch set, super handy when making your own neoprene slip mats and in cases like this.

Re: Operating American lathes in Europe: 60 Hz or 50 Hz?
Apologies, doesn't the 14b use direct drive to the platter? One motor on each side? If that's the case, what I describe doesn't apply.

Re: Operating American lathes in Europe: 60 Hz or 50 Hz?
Or just buy your Bodine motor back, run it at 50hz with a new motor pulley with a larger diameter to account for the slower speed based on the different frequency. Changing the motor or frequency conversion is a complicated solution to a simple math/mechanical issue. https://www.lathetrolls.com/view...

Re: Operating American lathes in Europe: 60 Hz or 50 Hz?
Interesting, I may have found photographic evidence to support your claim which would throw an interesting monkey wrench in the general realm of knowledge on Presto transmission setups. The MRC16 would be an exception to the rule vs the standard. In order to test this, please provide the inner and o...
