Bless you and your patience, Handcut! Thank you for sharing all of this info.
No worries, thanks to everyone who chimed-in. I wouldn't wish the stress of the past four weeks on anybody! I'll write-up the full process once I've had the parts made and everything is up & running.

Re: Vinyl Recorder T560 Overhead Motor

OK, so after some correspondence with Faulhaber's UK engineer, we have deduced that the motor is: Faulhaber 2230FR006S+22/2 308:1 Lead time on these is 8 weeks, just to warn you all! Now all that remains is to have the original brass bearing housing cloned (for those just tuning in, the original was...

Re: Vinyl Recorder T560 Overhead Motor

Is anybody with a working VR able to do me a solid and time the RPM of the black wheel when the groove/speed adjustment is maxed out (fully clockwise)? Thanks!

Re: Vinyl Recorder T560 Overhead Motor

So, also looking at Ben's photos, the capacitor is sitting on top of a board that is attached to the rear around the connections, if it is a Faulhaber, the model number would usually be stamped in the black plastic (under the board) ;-) The cap was soldered directly across the terminals on mine, id...

Re: Vinyl Recorder T560 Overhead Motor

So I contacted Faulhaber directly and they put me in touch with their UK engineer. I'll let you all know the outcome as soon as possible. Thanks for all the support... The last bit of hair I had has turned completely grey the past few weeks!

Re: Vinyl Recorder T560 Overhead Motor

Ah, wow, yes that's it! Faulhaber S/G 2230 Series DC micromotor with a 22/2 series gearhead. Now to work out which combination... I also have a problem with the inner rod. The clutch bearing barrel housing (the brass thing) isn't true, so the inner rod (the steel one) has a slightly eccentric rotati...

Re: Vinyl Recorder T560 Overhead Motor

Gaffer Tape 😳😳😡😡😡 that is utterly SHIT3 Hancut as previously mentioned I suggest detailed photos .... Plus dimensioned sketches, many people have time on there hands at present (me!) and may be able to help I know - couldn't believe it when I eventually got the motor out and realised that it was ga...

Re: Vinyl Recorder T560 Overhead Motor

hey handcut, I hope all turns out as best as possible. this is a true nightmare Im sure. thanks for the reporting Thanks man. The thing is, it's an easy fix, just not so easy to find the right part. I know very little about DC motors, but I've sure as shit learned a lot about them this week! Don't ...

Re: Vinyl Recorder T560 Overhead Motor

I SWEAR I stumbled on a post a while back where someone said they knew the make/model of the motor that powered the overhead. :shrugs: Me too, but I've searched high and low and can't find it now. I'm pretty sure myshank said he'd repaired one, so I emailed him to ask. No reply yet but I know they'...

Re: Vinyl Recorder T560 Overhead Motor

I got one of these "Reverse Modules" on ebay years ago and I believe it is the same motor as is inside that tube : Maybe you can buy one from Souri? Interesting, it certainly looks similar from that small photo. You got it from eBay? There's no chance with Souri, he ghosted me years ago and such he...

Re: Vinyl Recorder T560 Overhead Motor

"it was covered in a LOT of gaffer tape" OMG, if its the factory solution, its a big disappointment.... Can you take some photos? For example, Souri uses papst motor and controller for the external platter motor, but he cleaned the brand/type... Exactly what I thought! Yes, when my head stops spinn...

Vinyl Recorder T560 Overhead Motor

Hi All, Well, after a complete f'ing rollercoaster of a year (so far) the motor on my VR has just died. Fortunately this happened *before* I committed to selling it, so hopefully I can get it repaired before I do! Maybe even improved... With great difficulty, I managed to remove the motor. Once I go...

Re: Rapid vertical movement w VR

Hmm, I'm running with a brand new 1200GR with no precision platter - do I need to adjust? Further to my initial post I've re-lubricated the screw and applied more De-Oxit to the groove control pot, and also moved the screw cylinder 4cm to the right - just about as far as it will go. I've also fitte...

Re: Rapid vertical movement w VR

Wondering if any one has seen this before. I have 3 VR's. Been cutting with 2 of them for about 6 years, I guess. Added the 3rd a couple months ago. One of them started exhibiting this behavior a couple weeks ago - couldn't figure it out so I took it out of commission. Now another one is doing exac...

Re: Rapid vertical movement w VR

@jonoaustin ... did you resolve this? I think I might have a similar problem, getting groove patterns like this, then ending up with a swarf spill. No music being cut, just the cutting head moving over the blank: http://www.doitthissen.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/IMG_E59152-e1598287736485.jpg ht...

FS: Vinyl Recorder (possibly)

I'm CONSIDERING selling my VR. Not definite yet , still need to work a few things out. It's housed in a custom built flight case and would include a M/S Neumann w492 clone I built (if you want it), as well as all the usual Souri electronics (which I don't use) such as main unit, VU, phase, monitor s...
