The advance ball mechanism is riveted to the cover, so it's not likely to find a loose one lying around. You'd have to find the whole cover or a whole head off a k-10 or k-11 or fabricate your own and affix it to your head.

The head is a Presto 5-c with advance ball, It's what they came with.

the stock head for the k8 (presto 5-c) would use a short shank stylus, but you could always cut one down if a long one is all you can get.
