Re: My home made lathe

Thank you, Mark! Well, the source is digital from my laptop. Just an mp3 using a plugin for inverse RIAA curve (I don't remember where I find this plugin, but is says "Olaf Matthes vacuum sound.de). That's for the EQ. No measurements for the frequency response. In pics there is a snapshot from a fre...

My home made lathe

Hi there trolls, Well, as a lot of people in here, I have a dream... to build my own record lathe. :D So, after long reading in this forum and watch many many videos, I have my first try. You can see the whole machine in the video below. But here a simple description of what I made: - A Nema17 motor...

Re: sewing needles

Well, that's a pic that you can see the tip of my dusty reproducing needle and the one of my sewing needle. As I can see there is a big difference in the tip... But is this sewing needle good enough to start experimenting? P.S. that's a picture of 20x magnification (just got the usb microscope and t...

Re: sewing needles

Yes, I beleive that there are great! But, I don't have any cutting mashine like Presto or Rekokut.. Just my DIY lathe and I don't know if I can use them on polycarbonate.

Ok, it's cheap enough to try them. :)

Do you use any heating coil on them ?

Cheers

Re: sewing needles

Hi, Well, these are very interesting pics. But, as I know even the sewing needles has numbers, that represents the size of the tip. As you can see in my first pics, there are numbers. (3-7). Also, the needles for leather has triangular shape as I can see that with naked eye. Anyway, thanks for your ...

Re: sewing needles

Hi, I appreciate your reply.. I know that the cutting styli has to be sharper and with smaller radius than the repro stylus. I'm asking this because I saw that lot of guys on youtube use sewing needles for their home made lathes. Unfortunately, I don't have any microscope to see the difference of th...

Re: Speaker for CD lathe

Thank for your reply!

Well, let's say I find a tweeter in about 15W. How much weight it should be? less than 100 grams?

And I will appreciate if you can suggest me a brand of speaker or amp to buy for my project.

Thanks again!

Hi there! I thought that DMM acts totally opposite As Wikipedia says: "there is no need to rush the finalized master disc directly into a refrigerator for groove preservation, as in conventional lacquer disc cutting, before processing the master disc to produce matrices for the pressing of the recor...

You can see clearly here, that the material is PVC : http://www.vinylrecorder.com/blanc.html Vinylium says : "we are able to cut into vinyllike material".. which is maybe the polycarbonate material, t...

Vinyl dubplate Durability??

Hi There! I just want to make a simple question about the durability of vinyl dubplates. Wikipedia says: Vinyl dubplates are a recently developed format which allow extremely durable recordings to be made (lasting 90% as long as pressed vinyl). So, what's the factor that defines the durability of vi...

To be more specific in my query I show you what I've read:

From Hydrogenaudio:
"Acceleration limiting might be used on the vinyl master"

How is this "acceleration limiting" is achieved?

Thanks...
