Re: OPCODE 1-E Mono Cutterhead (Presto 1-D Clone)

I should have tonearm playback video today. And, am transitioning into working on the overhead now. Also, I'll give a hint at what's also coming soon.....

Re: Neumann VMS spindle bearing

It is a standard bearing. Relatively large. I have a spare. I can take measurements if you like.

Re: Linear-motion question

The pulleys are there for gear reduction. Servo motors are the only ones that are cheap and can turn very slowly with much torque. BLDC motors don't turn slowly unless they have a very high number of poles which makes them very expensive. So, most people use DC or BLDC motors with gear reductions. T...

PLS19 Master Computer Added a second Arduino for master control and pitch computer. Talks to the platter computer. Has LCD screen. Adding sensor inputs now. Then, I'll add reverse to the platter control so you can cut backwards if you want. More to come in the late AM hours. Stay fucking tuned!!! 8...

Re: Piezo ceramics as cutting head drivers?

Have you actually seen my work? I need no instructions. But, thanks. Dual feedback loop sounds like a huge hack. And, prone to false data. Also, sounds like more space to account for. My professional stereo feedback cutterhead contains no speakers and is smaller than a Neuman SX cutterhead. So, yeah...

Re: Piezo ceramics as cutting head drivers?

I have my opinions which are formed from experience. Regardless of that experience, you should tinker. Its the only way you can start to bridge from hypothetical/academia to real world results. I encourage everyone to try things no matter how much they may or may not make sense. Not making sense som...

PLS19 Motor Control V14 - WOW, WOW and More WOW!!!!!! I think I've cracked the secrets to precision BLDC motor control. I'll be tweaking some values which will allow for even better control than this. But, this is not too bad.... :-) Moving this code to a real PIC32MX processor will allow me at lea...

Re: Piezo ceramics as cutting head drivers?

Starting with a speaker severely limits your design options. For example, it forces a much larger overall head body to accommodate the speaker element. Another example is the fact that you have to mate to the diaphragm which presents issues and is not mechanically efficient. Third is the lack of a c...

Re: OPCODE 1-E Mono Cutterhead (Presto 1-D Clone)

It is extremely light in plastic. I can machine the base plate and back sections from brass which would add a lot of weight, but also add to the overall cost. The covers front and back will always be plastic. I've made a weight attachment for the front of the case as seen in the pictures above. and ...

PLS19 Platter Motor Feedback Control Logic Test I've added eight magnets to the gear reduction wheel. I also added a magnetic sensor to the plinth. Using an Arduino Uno I'm able to take the magnetic input as feedback and determine an accurate rolling average for rotational speed. I'm also generatin...

Mono Cutterhead Design Principles and Repair Seminar

Gauging interest on a weekend seminar here in Los Angeles hosted by me. I would be going through the principles of mono cutterheads, their physics, materials, design concepts and limitations. Additionally, I would be covering all the details of how to perform mono cutterhead rebuilds. It will be ver...

Looks like an Opcode66 Mono Cutterhead Rebuild to me...

Thought you were on the "bleeding edge" of transducer technology? Why have your head serviced by me? Hmm.
