Well - I can't be sure if it needs to be replaced. But it's always a good idea to replace it after .. well 50 years or so.rsimms3 wrote:Check with Terry's Rubber Rollers on your idler. What's wrong with the capstan? Bent? Gouged?

REK-O-KUT Capstan and rubber rollers
Fellow trolls, do you know of anyone who would re-built or sell Rek-O-Kut capstans and rubber? My lathe rumbles too much at 33 rpm.
Thanks.

Re: Conversion LPI / Pitch / TPI
Hi, The lathe feedscrews are marked with the resulting LPI when used in the intended lathe (e.g Presto 6N). The actual TPI of the feedscrew depends on the ratios of the system. On the 6N it takes 8 turns of the platter to cause one turn of the feed screw. So to cut at 160 LPI, you use a 20 TPI scre...

Conversion LPI / Pitch / TPI
Howdy fellow trolls:
Lathe feed screws are measured in LPI. However - i am looking for a linear actuator and they usually advertise in TPI (threads per inch) or pitch (metric). Is there any way to convert LPI to TPI or pitch?
Thanks.
Michaela

Re: New Way To Cut PC Sheets (Cricut Craft Cutter)
I read about the copyright policies of the cricut manufacturer. It seems, that they don't allow your very own images to be cut. Though most of this complaints are from 2011. Is that still true? Or can those machines cut any shape or form? I am curious because I think a machine like that would be gre...

Re: How do I Take a CD/digital copy to Vinyl Record?
Well - you found the right place. Depending on your requirements, you may get a record cut (both sides) between 40 and around 100 Dollars. And "cut" ist the right word, because the music will be physically cut into the material - be it some form of lacquer or plastic. An alternative would be the "im...

Re: Horray .. the first keeper :)
My Grampian is a blast for sure. I am very happy with it, especially for 45rpm and 78rpm cuts. I record the 45rpm at 33rpm which allows for great upper frequencies even for modern 45 jukeboxes. Cutting at 33rpm is somewhat problematic, as the frequency range is a bit limited and the older rim-drive ...

Re: Horray .. the first keeper :)
Well - I advanced a bit since back then. I do the mono'ing and the iRIAA now directly in the audio chain, no need for audacity anymore since I am cutting stuff directly from tape and want to keep everything analog. However - I am also looking around for options in regard to a new lathe. I have custo...

Howdy trolls: Now - I have read here about this "Neumann Clone" and that it seems to be consensus to stay away from it. Question is: Is it a point blank fraud ? Kind of like money gone and nothing in return? Or is the product just bad ? Too bad to use it as a basis to build something out of it? http...

Re: Arduino for variable LPI
another thing would be that if you insert a delay between the pitch computer and cutteramp you could look ahead of cutting and calculate the needed space in advance - this is how pro setups work. Lukas I know - but I don't want to use digital delays. Working on a preview head for my tape machine. M...
