Re: Vintage Federal Lathe 78 / 33 rpm
Well - that may be so. But my historical interest is old jukeboxes. And they don't play inside out I am looking for a lathe to cut 78rpm records for the jukebox. I will get out of the deal and start looking for alternatives.

Re: Vintage Federal Lathe 78 / 33 rpm
I need to apologize to rsimms3. I confused him with the user "theironclad" who was actually the person posting the images. It was a mistake and I am truly sorry.

Re: Vintage Federal Lathe 78 / 33 rpm
Well - this is a bummer. Somebody sold me that machine on Ebay without disclosing the fact that it cuts inside-out. He or she uses rsimms3's images , so I suspect its his machine. The Email-address of the seller point to ironcladrecords.com. So I am wondering, if rsimms3 sold the machine to the pers...

WTB Lathe for 78rpm mono
Hey - after making my baby steps with a Recordio and a Presto cutter head, I am now looking for a (vintage?) machine to cut 78rpms in vinyl, PVC or PC for my jukebox. So - I am looking for a simple machine with or without cutting head and with or without working amplifier. It should be mechanically ...

Re: Vintage Federal Lathe 78 / 33 rpm
Yeah - found it. Thanks. The good man forgot to mention the unique feature of cutting inside out in his listing. I am not amused.

Vintage Federal Lathe 78 / 33 rpm
I just bought a vintage Federal Lathe - It has 33 and 78rpm speeds. I can't say anything about its age, but it seems to be from the 40s. Anybody here know a thing or two about these machines?

Re: A newbie is born ...
Hey - thanks for your answer. Yes, I am experimenting with heating up the PC. But embossing will most likely not solve my main problem. I need more 'grip' so that the jukebox tone arm has enough traction to trip the end of record mechanism. So - it looks as if I have to get into cutting. I have a me...

Cutting polycarbonate or vinyl
After I applied a bit to much force to my cutterhead, it started to "cut" the poly instead of just embossing. The grooves felt rough and the sound quality was .. well, think sitting under a tin roof in a rainstorm. But it made me wonder: Can one actually "cut" poly or vinyl and get acceptable result...

A newbie is born ...
.. and is waiving hello. My name is Michaela, I am an IT security engineer by day and restoring, playing and adjusting my beloved vintage jukeboxes by night. I currently own a 1937 Wurlitzer Type 24 (78rpm) and a mid-fifties AMI G 80 (45rpmn) both now in decent playing condition. The last 78rpm in N...
