Phillips technical review
Hi,
I came across some docs that may be of interest.
First, the Phillips Miller recorder recorded mechanically on film to be read optically. The cutter head was moving iron, of course.

The BBC did great job adapting the Phillips miller cutter to disc recording.

Re: I'm builind a record lathe cutter
The socket you are talking about is called "armature" and I'll be surprised if you find it made anywhere. Only option is to make one yourself or ask a machinist to make one. For that you may need to know the exact dimensions... some trial and error is to be expected, it will take some time About the...

Hey, good luck with your project! You have to choose the turntable with the highest possible torque, search forum for options, Is said that certain models from Technics and Stanton may work, but also sone very old turntables. I think the backplate cn be made of alluminum, brass or other non magnetic ...

Re: Experimenting with Feedback
Hello,
Hey, nice project! So the main resonance is 12k? Thats way too much for a moving coil... are you sure that the search coil picks up only the motion or also the field emmited by the drive? If it makes no damage, try to stop the motion and measure what happens...

Re: Xray records
I found out that not all x-ray sheets are the same. Some have a thin film on it, like laserdiscs. Some thicker. What works with ones dont apply to others.
also they are easily spoiled if not treated very carefully.
If you have a lot, try to separate different kinds, before getting mad!

Thanks for your answer,Peter,
The ratchet was filed with epoxi! But managed to open it with no damage to other parts.
Here's a pic if somebody wonders how it looks like:

Re: rek-o-kut 110v voltage conversion
Well, the idlers are old indeed...the plastic tubing carved with a blade while spinnng gave not bad results to me.Maybe a metal sleeve can be done the same way. But of course, a proffesional machinist is the best option.

Re: Rek-O-Kut Imperial restoration
I solved this prblem this way(see link), and the lathe still runing fine.At first I used a 220-125v transforme(and more than 10 hours non stopr, later I changed to a 220-100v to keep the hz/volts ratio(more or less) butmaybe this was not importsnt https://www.lathetrolls.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=4635...
