Has anyone got any advice on Bearings?
I am starting this as a new thread separate from the 14B thread as it's a specific question.... I've just cleaned the bearing from under the platter on the Presto 14B, and it looks like it's missing some parts. it's just 11 ball bearings rolling around freely, and they've impressed a groove into the...

Re: New Project- Presto 14B / Caruso
I just found ot the correct terminology for the type of Bearing I have under the Platter - it's a Full compliment bearing, which means it has more ball bearings inside and doesnt have a Cage/Retainer so the ball bearings don't sit evenly spaced, but it has higher bearing capacity on both axis. It's ...

Re: VR torque problem with blanks bended
I doubt this will help but might be worth a try anyway: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjhXXDp1-JQ I know lots of people cutting 12" on a VR / technics and having the same problem. Lubricant might help.... but more likely a much more powerful turntable/motor will be the answer. disclaimer - I just ...

you'd have to source pre-made splatter blanks.... which I'm guessing would be tricky.

Training at Magnetic Fidelity in Greece
Hi guys I just got back from a week in Greece, training with Jesus and Sabine from Magentic Fidelity, and I just wanted to recommend their excellent service. Like everything in this game, nothing comes cheap :) but this experience was definately worth it for me. I've been progressing with my lathe r...

looks great
how viable would that motor design be for a playback turntable?
there aren't many options these days since vestax stopped making decks and technics quadrupled in price.
The Hanpin decks are mostly rubbish for turntablists.... we need torq and stability.

Re: RIHPA Awards 2019: "Naxatras III" Best Audiophile Record
who pressed it? I use The Vinyl Factory. They've been great quality so far, but I normally go for black vinyl to be on the safe side. Flatness is a big deal to us skratchers too and for the most part theyre good in that department as well. 7" have sometimes been a little wonky, but i fugure its hard...

Re: On the subject of bearings
thanks for the info, Dan I'm a totally non-qualified amateur so I only understood a little of what you've said here, so forgive my ignorance. I have an old lathe with pretty gummed up ball bearings under the platter. should I be looking at a Sliding Bearing as a replacement? (rather than look for a ...

Re: RIHPA Awards 2019: "Naxatras III" Best Audiophile Record
well done! how did your pressed records come out? I'd be interested to hear if the sound quality is affected by coloured vinyl. In my experience it has affected the sound, but different colours yeild different results. Purple and Blue have both been noticably worse, so perhaps theres some issue with...

I have a 14B, which has a fairly chunky overhead, kind of like a 8DG but fixed in place.
do you think that would fit? i can get proper measurements for you if you can't guess from the pic

Re: OPCODE 1-E Mono Cutterhead (Presto 1-D Clone)
I'm interested in this motor also, because in the skratching community we are getting sick of the lame Hanpin OEM turntables, and people are looking for a decent hi torq turntable with a wide pitch range
also super keen to check out the suspension box if it fits on a presto!
dope work so far!
