Re: FS: rack cabinet for VG66 or SAL74

My first posting was not actually clear on this, but it is a Neumann branded rack. Originally for an SP66 or VG66. Will fit an SAL74 also.

FS: rack cabinet for VG66 or SAL74

I have for sale the rack that I dismantled from Al Grundy's garage about 5 years ago. In nice shape. Pics soon, PM me if you are interested. (These rack cabinets are beautiful, ridiculously well made).

FS: extender cards for VMS66/70...

See attached pics... I'm not planning to work on a VMS66 or VMS70 again, so here are my extender cards. I do not think the long cards are for the SAL74, they may be for the VG66, or they may be for the TS66. The short cards are definitely for the VMS66/70. Two of each. $500 for all of the cards. PM ...

Re: Project: Neumann VAB-84 and more....

I have the original EE77 and SK-E module with my VMS80 but if you look at the manual for the Prism Sound MDC-70, they have used ms matrixing on the preview channel with attenuators to achieve similar adjustments on lathes besides the VMS80 and VMS82. The other knob, for land economy, is not implemen...

Re: VMS 80 turntable bearing oil

Careful, Leandro's reply is for the AM32b/VMS62/VMS66/VMS70 mechanical low-pass filter, not the VMS80 bearing. I think only Chris Muth, Sean Davies, or someone with an 80 (someone from GZ mastering?) might know. I have an 80 and I'm not sure what viscosity the oil is. But I am curious, why are you c...

Re: Sontec Compudisk...

Update on the compudisk. Thanks to help from compudisk owners... Computer enters self-check mode, can go through all 16 diagnostic modes. So both CPU's are working and ROMs are not corrupt. I have the manuals and pinouts of all the connectors. And abbreviated schematics, not sure complete schematics...

I don't have schematics yet, but I've opened an SP02, seems to be very similar to SP10mk2, just everything is more expensive... So in SP10mk2 there's a set of windings that generates 3 sinusoidal signals at the frequency and phase relationship needed by the drive coils. So there are three amplifiers...

Sontec Compudisk...

Hello all...

I'll take pics tonight. But is anyone looking for a Sontec Compudisk? I have one in the basement, gathering dust. Half of it seems to work, half of it does not seem to work... If no one is interested, I may hold out for getting a copy of the manuals and schematics.

No, cd4cutter was an engineer who cut on a Neumann lathe 'back in the day' as it were. He would be able to elaborate on which studio he used to work at etc. I haven't seen a posting from him in a long time, hopefully he's all right. I'm tubefan... (After a month with actual artists I completely hate...

S/N 651 is the first LS-76 according to Chris Scully, grandson... I have no idea what S/N 1 Scully would look like but supposedly 1917 so probably would have the thinner platter for wax, and some sort of mechanical cutterhead... Interesting patent search results pop up, American Gramophone Company p...

Have to post some pics, all of the discomputers I remember seeing pics of were attached to original Scullys, not LS76's... Perhaps that's a new find. At one point when CBS in NY was getting rid of their Discomputer Scullys they would not sell the Discomputers, so the person in question got scullys w...
