Re: Source for cardboard sleeves?

thanks, but the reason I ask here and not google is that the grey are impossible to find
Brown no problem

My guess is that somebody here can either supply them or know somebody who does....

Re: How does a mother record sounds?

great!
looking forward to hear it.

Cant really wrap my brain around what is actually being played on a negative - I guess there should be silence in the 'grooves' but appreaantly not

Re: How does a mother record sounds?

thanks - I see how it is unclear.
What I am interested in is how a negative record sounds played back with a normal stylus - if there is any resemblance to the original audio, or if the needle simply skips...

Re: How does a mother record sounds?

I know that it can be played back using a special v spahed stylus
but how does it sound when played back with a normal stylus?

I imagine quite distorted...

How does a mother record sounds?

A bit weird question perhaps, but has anyone tried to play a mother (the negative used to make a record stamper)

I'm interested how it sounds...

thanks

Re: What are these disds made of??

I have similar discs from wilcox gay - my best guess is that is standard laquer, hardend over time.
I have also seen blue discs.

There is somewhere here a recipe for soften up old laquers....
