Re: Sillitoe Lathes
Sounding totally great!! Congratulations! The compensation EQ looks good. I guess it will be a good amount of testing before it is setup totally right, and even then it will vary with program material. With the current setup and content, I am finding it a touch 'crispy' and maybe a little mid-scoope...

Re: Testing of the Batchelder - Grampian replica
All the published BBC papers on the web with the permission of the BBC state clearly that they are for information purposes only. As I imagine, there will be no way of proving that the head will be sold– particularly if he chooses to initiate all sales independently. Without official public documen...

Re: Testing of the Batchelder - Grampian replica
Then again the BBC may not care one way or the other....who knows unless you check And they won't even consider whether or not they care until someone in their law team finds out about it. Even then, the slightest difference or variation can over-rule a patent/copyright. Typically companies get leg...

Oops one polarity arrow is incorrect on the drive left drive transducer.

Re: Project "Groove Scribe"- A DYI stereo 45/45 head.
Another large permanent magnet at a 90 drgree angle that close to your other magnets has an effect. Certainly, an interaction/influence is present; this influence is static therefore the coils of the feedback will not be unpredictably inflicted– this is if that flux was actually effecting the coil ...

Re: Project "Groove Scribe"- A DYI stereo 45/45 head.
Let me ask. Does a stereo cutterhead have one channel? One set of drive magnetics? One setnof feedback magnetics? Nope. Why are you all only simulating one set of magnetics? Seems to me that at the very least, due to the relatively short distance between the feedback magnetics in nearly every desig...

Re: Project "Groove Scribe"- A DYI stereo 45/45 head.
To elaborate on a mention previous about accessing the magnetic field outside the magnet, I made an image to show what I mean. A pushrod with a little disk could be machined [from aluminium] such that a cylindrical section would extend over the top of the magnet. Soldered to the circumfrence [alumin...

Re: Deep Grooves Mastering - Project Bladerunner
Hmm it appears I may be mistaken regarding what is being shown when you switch to the 'feedback' setting to display. I am not familiar with the caruso feedback board. So when you switch between the two signal sources, you are switching between what exactly? Is it between the input signal and the fee...

Re: Deep Grooves Mastering - Project Bladerunner
Looking good! These magnitude response visualizations are great, but a phase plot would be awesome to see! Thats is the kicker. Magnitude response doesn't mean much in this case if its shifted out of the useful range of phase coherence. I know you know this :) Keep up the great work! Looking forward...

Re: Project "Groove Scribe"- A DYI stereo 45/45 head.
These simulations are awesome, Fela! If only the coil could be wound such that it passes through the flux lines on the outside of the magnet where many lines are seen at 90ºs to the vertical. I could machine a little coil overhang device to do it, I imagine, but it would be some tiny work. It might ...

Re: Project "Groove Scribe"- A DYI stereo 45/45 head.
Total curve ball idea regarding the tape heads! Awesome! I definitely want to try my hand at this, I have some tape heads laying around from experiments in analog music composition. Just need to order some of those tiny magnets! Here is a stereo 1/4" [for bi-directional tape use, putting two channel...

Re: Project "Groove Scribe"- A DYI stereo 45/45 head.
The springs serve many purposes. Possibly you are ignoring those Bahndahn? Or, are not aware of them. Removing them would be problematic with respect to actually tracing proper grooves. I didn't say don't do it. I merely threw in my experiential data. Right, now that I re-read it I realize you didn...

Keep it up, and good luck! I'm riveted to the updates.
