Re: Presto leadscrew pin removal

I agree with Al.

The pin will just come out with pliers (it happens to the clutch and crank pin accidentally fairly often). But why would you intentionally want to do it?

Re: Cutting on tiny metal cylinders

I have some very old (but seemingly unused) diamond cone styli, which I've been told were used to emboss aluminum back in the day. I haven't looked all that hard for an aluminum soft enough to match whatever it was they used in the 40s, but I know the aluminum cores of lacquers don't work. I've just...

Re: DMM onto tiny or unusual shapes

This was done years ago for talking dolls and see and say toys. Len Horowitz who did some of them is still around. I doubt he is interested in doing it for you (and i cant think of anyone else who would be interested without a big suitcase of cash in the mix because it wouldnt be easy to repeat thes...

Sealed NOS 2017 Transco Apollo 12" and 10" dubs and Long / Short Shank styli for sale

After buying hundreds of lathes over the last 20 years I've acquired a fair stock of lacquers and styli. But I rarely cut lacquer and since these things are impossibly rare and no longer made, I figure someone else could use them. SOME of what I have: Transco Ruby Cutting Styli - New (both Long and ...

Re: One day all the vintage/antique lathes will be running and complete

Plenty of parts piling up in my studio, that's for sure. Fun story on this theme. I made a trade with a guy one time, and part of what he threw in was a stack of ROK feedscrew half nuts. No feedscrews JUST the half nuts. 6 or 7 of them. And I was like, "ok, he doesn't care about them and they are pr...

Re: Embossed records plays or don’t plays on turntables.

Ive found the treble is more often the problem than bass. Volume has to be kept low (about 80% the volume of a standard pressed record) because the shallower grooves during the fast lateral modulations tend to throw the playback tonearm of shitty crosley style turntables (or anything without tonearm...

Re: Cutterhead Stylus Screw Buzz (RCA MI-4889)

hi. I do repair these cutterheads. Looks like the centering spring has broken at some point and a real messy soldering job was done to repair it. Your first thing would be to put a stylus in there to act as a lever. Then loosen that spring screw to the right just a hair, and pull the stylus to the r...
