Re: rek-o-kut help
The rubber rollers probably need to be re-done. Check out Terry's Rubber Rollers online and he can do the job. Also, there is an adjusting screw at the edge of each side of the slider that turns the motor on. From your pic I can see the one is dialed all the way in. This is keeping the roller away ...

rek-o-kut help
I've been trying to setup a rek-o-kut challenger and I almost finished.. but stucked on a thing which I don't quite understand..First - I have checked the amp and its componnents, replaced bad tubes, cleaned everything, greased everything, new rubbers for a motor housing, new ball bearing for the pl...

Federal Recorder: Brining back to life
Long time ago I bought Federal lathe - it looked complete - tested it today, motor works silent and great, cutterhead (western electric) measures 6,0 ohm. I did break one of the smallest-ever wires coming from a transormer in the cutterhead, but I will reapir it. So all OK. I won't fire power amp be...

Re: Hey i'm a music producer and would like to pay some of y
there is a free plugin called Vinyl (just needs a registration). You have presets for 50, 60s,70s,80s sound + you can add random noise, hiss, crackle, distortions. etc. I think this is simpler... but if you wanna go full analog, find someone with Presto or similar.

Re: Why are cutterheads so power hungry?
It was a great and helpful read (again) - thank you all. So this all lead me just for one more question, does anyone know correct impedance of souri's dynamic cutterhead? (I'll try to measure it in few days)

Re: Why are cutterheads so power hungry?
Thanks for the answerrs, guys. But 2x500W RMS means that it can produce all the frequencies that loud, isn't it? So, I could probably use an 2x10W power amp witha VR (and it's small drivers) and get the same good results without any problems with high end, right? I'm asking because I have some 2x30 ...

Why are cutterheads so power hungry?
I mean, look at VR - it's 2x500W for that little stereo dynamic cutting head. Is that power really needed?

Re: VR stylus angle VS cutterhead angle
I get it (and really appreciate your effort to write about it! thanks!) but unfortunately I can't modify the stylus holder. This is so delicate that I don't want to mess with it.
I'm cutting plastic. For me there are 2 ways, in general, like on the picture...

Re: VR stylus angle VS cutterhead angle
So, it means that on T560 flat-to-disc cutterhead and about 20% plow angle of the stylus is better for pvc cutting than not-flat to disc cutterhead and 0% angled stylus?

Re: VR stylus angle VS cutterhead angle
The problem is - the "flat cutterhead" is not explained anywhere. Souri's T350 has an angle build to cutterhead, so when you set it pararell, stylus is always at plow angle, deafinitely more than max 8%. So I try to understand what is better - high low angle of diamond and flat-to-disc cutterhead - ...

Re: VR stylus angle VS cutterhead angle
thanks for that, it was really helpful, so, in conclusion - when cutterhead is flat to the discs, and styylus has like 20* angle - this is allright?

Re: Using cnc router for a custom made lathe
Idea is good, but CNC machines will have a lot of mechanical noise when it's moving. I mean, A LOT. So using it for cutting will probably destroy your stylus fast and you will have a lot of bg noise on the records.
