Still possible to get a VR in 2024

Hello trolls Is it still possible to get a VR from Souri these days? I sent a couple of emails but no reply as yet. I heard that it’s a challenge to get one from him, is there any advice from people on here who have successfully got one they could share to help in my quest? Also is it true that he w...

Re: New: Phonocut Desktop Disc Cutter

concerning sound quality at the moment its shocking too good. too good. and the goal is not to have same performance as a neumann or a scully. just to remember what is the price tag difference. and the group of people who use it. do the same comaprison once with a VR or an atom cutter. we might can...

Re: New: Phonocut Desktop Disc Cutter

Thanks for the reply Flo, appreciate the detailed response. The frequency response seemed ok for the price my biggest concern is the pitch wobble which would put me off of buying one. Looking forward to finding out more and hearing better tests! Have you considered making a more expensive ‘Pro’ vers...

Re: New: Phonocut Desktop Disc Cutter

Fantastic project and I am very interested but still have some reservations. In this Youtube demo comparison: https://youtu.be/ZNHzLK-GFgo You can hear that there is some pitch flutter on the Phonocut version noticeable on the Rhodes chords. To me it sounds like the motor / drive on the turntable mi...

Anyone pressing 12' Records like Europadisk etc - 90's style

I absolutely love US pressings from the 80's / 90's. As a Brit growing up in this era and buying US records as 'imports' they have always held a special place for me, and always (to me) looked superior, from the type of shrink wrap used to the card sleeve, and to the inner with the curved corners. T...

What type of blank / cutting stylus are you using?

Re: Polycarbonate 12" - 10" blank records searching

Would the Myshank blank be better for embossing (and with a longer styli lifespan) than polycarbonate or is your experience
just with cutting?

Thanks!

Re: Embossing/impressing vs cutting with examples and theory

How does a backwards stylus with no apparent 'leaning back' come into play here for you guys? What's your experience if you have tried this technique. In my experiments I have found that I have got the best results when using a backwards sapphire to emboss (on polycarbonate) VS a steel or tungsten s...

Re: Embossing/impressing vs cutting with examples and theory

Hey Jesus Thanks for the post! Very interesting, I would love to hear the difference between embossing a polycarbonate disk (preferably with a backwards sapphire / ruby) and then cutting a polycarbonate disk using a diamond stylus, both on the same machine with the same program material like you hav...

Auzzie - here is one that is set up in an audiophiles bedroom here in Japan! http://www.gokudo.co.jp/Vanguard/room3/room3.htm Totally agree that is such a shame for these wonderful machines to be just simply used as playback machines! Can you remember the name of the shop that you saw the VMS70 in, ...

Re: limit of vinylrecorder T560?

Hey Marcy One thing that you have to consider as well is the physical limitation of cutting to disk (whatever the type - PVC / Acetate / PC etc..) Listening to your master that you posted - it is very bright and limited / compressed and the cymbals / guitars that come in at around 7 seconds are very...

Re: Angulo Records lathes of Argentina....wah huh?

Interesting! So with this chemical you are able to strip away the top layer of a pressed record and then cut it? And you are able to cut it with a Sapphire? On the video the chip looks white or clear - is this a byproduct of the chemical used? I would have though chip from a pressed black record wou...

Try contacting the people here (if you haven't already) http://www.toyokasei.co.jp/en/Contact.html
They will probably know someone in Nihon who can help you I think.
