Going to NAMM, Jan 2016

Hi! I'm about to take off for NAMM and L.A. in a few hours. I'm going to show our guitar pedals bussiness, and then off to Venice for a few days vacation (until saturday). If anyone is in the area perhaps we can meet there! Or, also I accept recommendations for things to do (besides hunting for LPs)...

Re: Poor Man's Feedback Cutter Head

I don't think the LED, and even less the LDR, are resposive at audio frequencies. You will most likely get an envelope of the audio intensity, but not the audio itself.

Re: Embossing tech - talk

Sunkingrecords, when I am not experimenting I am using tungsten cone styli from Farmerjohn. They are pretty good and last very long. When I am rolling my own, I am either using gramophone needles, steel rods or HSS drill blanks, which I spin on a sort of home made lathe while grinding them to form ...

I guess you can't have everything...
What are you using for needles to emboss the PC?

Re: limit of vinylrecorder T560?

If you use the Realtek it is important to turn off the integrated equalizer- it introduces hell of distortion and noise. At least on the board I tested.

Re: limit of vinylrecorder T560?

Do check the soundcard output. I found that my M-audio Audiophile 2496 in certain settings introduces a two sample delay on one channel. Which is not that audible when the channels mix "in the air", but for cutting may introduce problems in the treble. Like notching of high frequencies. Kind regards...

Re: Embossing on X-ray

To set the record, I was never able to get good sounding results in any media (vinyl, pC, CDs, whatever) with the machine.
All "improvements" refered earlier were relative to a previous worse cut, but at no point was something worth listening.

Re: Scam warning: Angulo Records

I believe the stylus he sells are just imported Transco and Adamant (at least that's what he gave me). I don't know why he called them diamonds when they are in fact saphire or ruby. The blanks I got from him are all warped. They supposedly will get flat with the heat of the cut itself... Kind regards

IMG_4559.JPG IMG_4626.JPG IMG_4564.JPG I have to find the photos of the interior of the machine, which now is also pretty much dismantled while we try to rebuilt the thing to operational standards. I never got good results with the system, which until recently I still wasn't sure it was fault of me...

Hi, this are photographs I took at some point of the head I got.
At the moment, the head is in the hands of an engineer which is trying to make some sense out of it:

Stylus alignment

Hi! About the stylus like NSH-2S and I believe Transco 320 models which have a cilindrical shank with no flat parts, and a little square on top of it. It is correct to assume that the cutting facet is aligned to the sides of the square? So aligning the sides is a safe way of correctly pointing the s...
